Hi all,

I just got an Aygo x-fun from 2020 with around 10000 miles. It's a great car and all is well. The sound system is really good with some tweaking. However, I am very annoyed by rattling that occurs in both doors which is worse in the passenger's door. On certain bass frequencies on normal volume without any bass boost both doors are resonating which is pretty noticeable. Is this a known problem in the Aygo or should I let this be fixed by the dealer?

Kind regards,

Edian

Dealer will not fix rattles, you only get 6 months on brand new cars, from what you're saying you are pushing the audio to its limits, i would suggest a speaker upgrade (2 way components) and sound deaden the doors with something like 2mm silent coat

Toyota do set a limit, not quite as tight as 6 months the limit is 18 months / 20,000 miles

I've had three of this generation from new, they all do it after a while. No sound deadening and cheap door trims don't help I'm afraid.

Thanks @flash22 @Devon Aygo @phillev for replying! What a bummer that this is a known issue in the Aygo. I must say that it's not a surprise to me as the door panels seem quite cheap and thin. This video shows very little insulation and foam behind the door panels. I'm from the Netherlands and we have "Bovag warranty" here when buying a second-hand car which gives you 1-year warranty for all kinds of problems. I will try to claim this problem under this warranty with the next service. Yesterday I tried turning the bass down in sound settings which helps a little bit. I will just accept it then. The car is great besides this issue so i will just try to enjoy it 😄

As said sound deadening and decent Speakers will help even insulating clips etc., this is type of job you will get better results from DIY fix cos being thorough and taking time yields better results rather than garage against the clock fix, mullering trim and bodging a fix.

I've fitted amped decent door Speakers to our similar Mk1 107, which in fairness is not as well built/quality car as our Mk2 108, and that can be cranked quite high without any issues, but that a rare occurance nowadays as I bit too old to wind it up to 11!

I used to be into the audio scene for many years and done most of it from spl to SQ and even OEM plus

A car the size of the Aygo doesn't need much, a 250mm square of sound deadening on the door skin inside the door, remove the speaker and surround the opening, that will be no more than 20-30 euros to do and make a big difference, it also makes the door closing sound much better
