Hi all, has anyone noticed that the above doesn't sit flush with the dash on the bottom right hand corner, apparently a common issue according to dealers.

It's just the way it's moulded does it push down or is it solid ?

I've had the car two months and it was like it from new and no it doesn't push down any more.

pop the grille out with a trim tool and remove some plastic with a blade or Dremel from the bottom edge at the point, it's more than likely the moulding and/or the way the dash is formed that is out

I've have looked at loads of pictures of brand new and second hand ones and they all look exactly like this, bit shoddy really.

Yep, mine is the same, been like it since new, I’ve had a quick play with it, tried gently bending it down and the guide pin etc, but it’s attached somehow to the windscreen trim and makes it difficult to work on, then I thought why should I be messing with it? It’s defective and Toyota’s issue, not mine!

So will report when next near the dealer, I have a photo of it the day I picked it up as proof.

i doubt the dealer will do anything, the grill is made in 1 factory and the dash in another and the tolerance is out between the 2

a pic of the grille removed and its mounting tabs may help

Toyota build quality seems to be following the crowd I'm afraid. I know it's a mass production car but it's getting on towards 20k and I at least expect it to have parts that fit where they should without sitting proud of the dash. I've heard a few reports that the heater gear tends to fall apart and end up in the passenger footwell. I had an early MK2 and not one single issue and everything fitted and nothing fell off.

It's a new platform, you always get teething problems for the first 12-18 months, unfortunately with the Aygo, the PSA parts supply and quality control have crept in, It's still one of the better A segment cars, if you go for top spec cars the Yaris tops out at £28-29K a clear £10K over the Aygo X and the Yaris Cross at well over £33k retail, used prices are dropping in the last few months, Apr's on most deals are nearly at 8-10% - the new market will start to drop off and deals will be out there, i have been offered a number of cancelled orders, people are feeling the pinch, with the beginning of a hard winter

So looking around at X's for sale on the net most seem to have this issue when you look closely and I've looked at loads... Sad I know! Would you say the chances of a grille/dash being made wrong in those quantities is possible or is it just a case of mass production and general inconsistent build quality?

And mine, it was like this from day one and it does bug me, as I keep looking at it. I'm just wondering if it can be popped out,  heated very gently to get the right shape and pop it back in.

As above, a pic of the removed grille would help, looking at the location the A pillar trim may need to popped off

on that thought......

The A pillar may be pushing down on the back edge, popping the front corner up

A possibility... But for so many cars to have the same issue you would have thought it would have been picked up during build
