It seems they ARE selling the Aygo outside Europe.

The second generation Aygo (2014-2021) was also sold in South Africa.

I read about the aygo x they would only sell it in Europe. That's not right then..

The main market is Europe, although that doesn't necessarily discount it being sold in some other markets especially where Toyota don't sell re-badged small models from other manufacturers (e.g. Suzuki (Maruti) and Daihatsu).
