how to mute the radio?

just picked up a new corolla estate. cant work out how to mute the radio, a function i use quite a lot. can anybody tell me how?

Try this on steering wheel mode button..........

AM/FM/DAB*1, AUX
Press: Change audio modes.

Press and hold: Mute sound
(Press and hold again to resume the
sound.)

Hold down the mode button for a second or 2 on the steering wheel. This will mute or pause radio/DAB/MP3 etc. Press and hold again to resume.

thank you Taz, that worked. i dont know why they couldnt write mute on the button!

the car is too complicated for me. every time i want to do something, i have to get the manual out.

Jcr, you just wait until it rains next summer or winter nights drawc on next year.  You will have all the delights of relearning a lot of unused controls. 

The Yaris Cross adds lots more, steering wheel heater, App to flash the lights to help you find the car and even switch the heater on or lock the doors if you forgot.
