Most vehicles a reset is to disconnect the 12v Battery and leave it for about 30 minutes the reconnect the Battery and that also clears most faults.

I trigger the pre-collision system on the Cross everytime I park it, as I need it to be right up against the wall. Is this detrimental to the braking system at all, or designed for that kind of (ab)use? I'm unsure if I should really deactivate the system in that instance, but equally doing so would defeat the point? I reverse at snail pace when very close to something.

It won't do any harm at all, it is doing what it is designed to do and you now have the satisfaction of knowing that it works as intended.
