Toyota dealership oil changes

There's a long history of Car manufacturers claiming OEM or "specific" lubricants/parts etc. etc.

AFAIK there's very few to none that actually make their own so if you can find out who actually produces the bits and/or what parts "bin" they come from (which could be across several different Car brands) it's possible to obtain OEM quality for rather less than OEM price.

Thats why some manufacturer allow 3rd party makes their oil that can pass certain tests.  Some are more stringent than others.  Benz, BMW, VW/Porsche are usually have  higher minimum standard to get certification than generic ILSAC GF-6 or ACEA C5/C6.   Higher standard needs better base oil (group IV or III) and additives.  Thats why there are many kind of Castrol Edge 0W-20 that has different certifications and the price reflects the standard too.  The same thing with Liquimoly, Ravenol, and Shell oil. 

If I do not have time, I will go to any shop who can give me about £100 oil change but using Longlife oil certified by VW or Dexos 1 gen 3.  It does not matter if it is Mobil 1, Castrol, or Shell.  In germany, we have Pitstop.de that offer €100 oil change for Toyota hybrid.  They often offer either 0W-20 Castrol Edge Longlife 508/509 oil and mann filter.
