Keeping heating off and heated seats on instead it’s not ideal.

It is a shame as the heated seats are a very efficient way of heating the human. The car will still run in EV mode for long periods with these on. Trouble is you do need the AC to clear the human generated fog.

Pleased to see it’s not just my Yaris Cross whose mpg has gone to pot recently. So I won’t panic and will dream about some spring warmth.

Hybrids always get worse fuel consumption in the winter but, as noted in other threads in this forum, the introduction of E10 unleaded  has caused a greater impact.  At the start of last week I filled up with Tesco 99 E5 and I did notice an improvement in MPG and that was when it was still cold.

My Yaris jumped 10mpg in the summer when I ran it on Esso E5 (which is actually ethanol free).  The Cross will get the same from day one.
