Boot bodywork issue?

Recommended Posts

Posted

Following on from the previous experience with the bonnet, I just discovered another paint related issue with the car.

I have emailed the dealer and will follow-up with a call soon, but what does this seem like to more experienced folks here?

This is the boot on the passenger side, and the part seems a bit raised, exposing the unpainted bit.

It is not a scratch, rather the parts not lining up properly.

The second image highlights the raised part and the second blue line shows the profile of the part itself.

My concern is rust risk as well as potential future issues when returning/selling the car on.

it looks like a glue edge from a protection film to me

That's the edge of the protective film they apply to the top of the bumper to help protect it when lifting items in and out of the boot (you may have some behind the passen and drivers door handles as well). I have taken mine off the bumper,  because I have found a proper protective bumper protector.

It's nothing to worry about, if you don't like it, you can easily peel it off using a hairdryer or heat gun and just peel it off gently.  It leaves no residue.

If I were you, I'd leave it on, because when I took mine off, it was a pretty good quality thick material and will at least give some protection.

Yeah, looks like that. Checked it after lunch and looks like that. Lots to learn and discover.

I remember picking up a new Vauxhall Vectra / Insignia and it stopped charging the Battery on the way home, I pulled into a nearby filling station and was lucky enough to get a spanner and adjusted the alternator 😡
