Hello,

Is their a recognised 2020 Toyota Corolla twin horn conversion which doesn't invalidate warranty or damage electrics

And not wishing to hi jack your query may I include a Yaris Hybrid in the question.

As long as it's a compatible and suitable automotive horn and not e.g. Parts-King's ridiculous locomotive horn  , any horn conversion shouldn't invalidate the warranty, except the part that covers the horn and any wiring changed.

The pricklier part is how much your insurance company will try and gouge you for the 'modification'!

There should be dedicated post about horns with links and pictures. Perhaps from 2020 if I remember correctly.

We really just want a press release from Toyota saying Noddy in Toyland has lost the contract to provide Toyota with horns.

To be fair the Toyota horn is fine for its intended purpose, i.e. to alert people to your presence.

I must admit I would like a polite "Excuse me!" horn and a "ARE YOU BLIND YOU $&£*% £$$£%&* MOTHER"£&$£$ WITH A *$&£#[+= UP YOUR #"£$£$%&*£$" horn, just to cover all bases...

The car's sophisticated electrical system would need to like and accept the replacement horn, confident that it's presence could not damage it's electronics in any way, thus invalidating the said warranty.

And even if the said electronics were to go faulty at some future date then a mechanic could possibly lay the blame on the said replacement horn, thus again invalidating the said warranty. 😃

I think that a horn should be loud and shocking.

And the reason I think this is because most sensible drivers never have to use the horn.

But when you do have to, it is in an extreme situation,as in to avoid a collision.

Not as a revenge sounding off in retaliation for being cut up,or for the sign language that the knuckle draggers use in place of the English language.

A polite wave goes a long way to dialling down the road rage that seems so common now.

I have posted before about the loud horns on emergency vehicles that out blast even the sirens,if they think that a car is in the way, even if they have nowhere to go.

So my penny's worth is, don't have half measures, have a horn that can be heard,or don't bother at all.

Or maybe a two tone compromise,a short toot to remind the sleeping driver in front at a level crossing to wake up and move, and a full on blast for the drunk , the stupid, and the just don't give a stuff ,on faster roads and motorways.

A stepped button shouldn't be too difficult to make, a detent,as in a soft press for the toot, and a hard press for the full on avoid a collision.

I miss having the horn push on the end of the light stalk as on older vehicles, that way you could sound the horn & blind the idiot at the same time with the main beam.

I had a Citroen CX that had air horns as standard, light push was not quiet but full push would have people in town jump two foot into the air.

I junked the oem horn and fitted a pair of PIAA high tone horns. Look up COROLLA PIAA horn installation On You Tube. Cost me around £40, a few bits and pieces and about an hour to carry out the work. Sounds like a car now and not a kids push- along.

It perhaps makes me a better driver as I only use it if there is a real emergency rather than just someone doing something stupid like cutting across me.

It can hardly be heard, which makes it very dangerous in avoiding a collision.

I must say I never seem to have the need to use the horn, in fact I've only pressed it to see if it actually works 😃

Here is mine. Got a y splitter lead & 2 snail horns I think it cost me around £20 if I remember.

All I've done is added the y splitter lead to the original harness then just bolted the new horns & plug straight in.

Only got to remove the top plastic trim above the radiator so easy to do.

Nice & load

I'm gonna do my misses Yaris car next as I've got a spare lead.

Found the video from my Instagram hope it helps. @Needy

Same here, I have noticed though that a fair few people now blast the horn several times to announce their arrival somewhere.

I just get out of the car, and knock on the door.

You would think with the amount of higher up SUVs it would encourage less horn use and more leg use but where i used to live you would think their was a horn section in practice.

Hate when other people use their Horns but saying that if i had a General Lee Dukes Of Hazzard horn on the MK4 Yaris i would be pressing it on every bend and corner 😁
