Yaris Cross boot size.

Thinking of changing my 2015 Auris Hybrid estate for a Yaris Cross.

I carry disabled Grandparents and one uses a wheelchair. What is the actual size of the boot in cm or inches. Only seen them at the dealer but not open to look in as a demonstrator. Going on the 29th to have Auris MOT'd so thinking if boot holds a wheelchair and rear leg room ok, may take on a test drive.

Liked the look of the vehicle. Thinking Icon or design spec. Cash only purchase.

What's your thoughts on the Yaris Cross?

Some sizes here when this was asked previously.

The Yaris Cross has the size of cabin/boot your need, most of the time. But that means some of the time it will be a squeeze, even more so if you have been used to an estate. It is still a supermini based design, albeit higher and longer.

Why not take the grandparents on a trip to a dealer and let them try for size? There is a common view that the rear doors don't open very wide, so that would be one to tick off. The other thing I have noticed from the back is that the view forward is limited by the front seat headrests.

Icon or Design should be fine, you don't really need the handsfree tailgate of the Excel version, but I would recommend parking sensors, even after market ones, as although the rear cam is good, it just makes things easier at the front.

Thanks for that. I plan to have a sit in it when my Auris is in for MOT and see what rear leg room is like etc. See if the wheelchair fits. Then if I like it get the Grandparents to sit in it. Sure I saw a parking pack option on either Toyota or Carwow site for £495. Was front and rear parking sensors. Also protection pack £145. Think these would be a good buy.

Many thanks James.

It probably wasn't the Toyota site. I had a look at the brochure here Request a Brochure | Toyota UK and it doesn't mention a parking pack. There is a City Pack with the Advanced Parking Assist option but it's not available on all models:

Thanks for the brochure, not found that. As you say not listed. Wish heated seats were an option too as had them in all my old 25-30 year old Volvo's. Seems Excel gets them as well as city pack.

Two days a week I take elderly and disabled people to hospital for their routine appointments. I frequently have to carry folding wheelchairs and, so far, have had no problem getting them in the boot. The only real problem is that there is not a lot of room in the back and access is a little restricted.

Prior to purchasing my Yaris Cross I owned a an Audi Q2 and my wife had a Skoda Kamiq.  Due to a pleasant change in our circumstances we decided to sell the Audi and share the Skoda as our driving needs changed.  The Kamiq had a fairly big boot and according to several reports from various car magazines, they stated that it had a slightly bigger capacity than the Yaris Cross.  Well, surprise, surprise, when I transferred the quality rubber boot mat to the Yaris cross, there was a space of about 2 inches between forward edge of the mat and the rear seats.  I’ll take photograph of it tomorrow and some measurements if that helps you with your decision.

As you can see, my Skoda Kamiq boot mat fitted without any alterations.  Rather than measuring the boot floor, I put the tape measure on the rubber mat as the whole area is useable.  Without taking account of all the nook and crannies the mat measurements are as follows:

Width    100cm

Length    77cm

Cheers

That's great, thanks. Will measure the wheelchair when at Grandparents. Merry Christmas everyone.
