Toyota iQ vs Citroen Ami

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

I hope you all had a great Christmas!!

For your Boxing Day amusement. I recently had the opportunity to experience the new electric city vehicle from Citroen. For anyone who doesn't know the C1 is no longer offered so the C3 is the smallest car they offer. The Ami is slightly shorter than the iQ and has a range of 45 miles.

If anyone would like to see the Ami and my 2009 iQ please see below:

I got one in this year's Harrods Christmas crackers.

Only joking, I'm sure that they are the right car for someone.

Citroen Ami is classed as a quadricycle so doesn't have to meet the same stringent crash test & safety requirements a new vehicle does.

The Ami doesn't know if it's coming or going, it's limited in so many ways, including top end

The potential customer base for the Ami must be really minimal. I could never see myself buying one. If you stopped and offered someone a lift they might say no thanks I’m in a hurry.😂🤣

I will be honest, when I was in the AMI the exposed welded metal frame and lack of airbag etc didn't bode the greatest of confidence.

That is very true, according to Citroen Edinburgh they have sold quite a few (a good few going to the Scottish islands).

They have actually sold about 12x more Ami than they have sold the DS9 which I found interesting.

That's what happens when Citroen are left to their own devices to produce an urban vehicle. They have  gone backwards even comparing it to our old 107/C1/Aygo which was basic no frills motoring back in the day, but faster, safer and more luxurious and that's saying something!

Not many 'cars' that make an iQ look large!

I used to see a guy in one of those driving up the M1 at evening rushhour, usually in the lane 1 queue to get off at the Watford junction.

I can't even imagine the size of that guy's steely testes!

The thought of being in one of those with artics and coaches flying past you... just... brrr!! :fear:
