Guys can you please advise if you are having same problem? I have to push the plug when it is locking. Otherwise it doesn't lock and charge the car. I wonder if this is part of security meaaure or just a failure.

Make sure the car is switched OFF inside. Should be OK then.

It should lock straight away. It sounds as if it is trying to lock. Have you tried using any other cable.

No, I haven't tried any other cable but charging port is ok. We can charge other cars. If cable is faulty then my cars charging socket doesn't have any problem.

When you plug it, you don't have to push the connector until it locks right for your bz4x?

If I push it, it works. Please see below video:

I think I automatically hold until it locks, had the same problem as you once but I was rushing that day.

@Malop can you test it with your car please? If I can make sure that my car has a problem then I will ask for service to fix it.

Late today, I tried this with ccs dc charging station (instavolt), same problem happend. So my cable is ok.

I tried it for your sake. When I shove it into the car it locks automatically. I didn't have to push and hold until it locks. When I push the cable into the car charging point it takes 1 to 2 seconds to lock it in place. I need not have to hold it.

Me too. The first time I put in a cable (public charger) I could hear a quiet knocking noise repeating a few times. it was undoubtedly attempting (and failing) to lock. When I held it firmly in, it then locked.

This is something normal or failure I don't know? My friend has Ford Mach-e and never has to hold it when plugged. It directly locks and charges.

Have to say there is no issue I've ever noticed on the PHEV, plug, lock and charge every time.

Hi Ugur, if possible go to a dealer and see if they've got one that you could try plugging in, maybe a demo, to see if it's normal.

I'm sure if you explain the situation they would help you 👍

I'm sure this is normal and not a failure. I had it once while plugging in at home, and when you push a little harder/make sure the plug is perfectly square, it locks no problem. I'm guessing it's designed to be a snug fit, with very little tolerance so any plug that is connected is perfectly square and fully inserted ensuring best possible connections on all the terminals. It may be easier for this to occur with rapid chargers if attention is not paid to the plug being inserted all the way and square, due to the thicker, heavier cables used on these.

First chance to test was my trip yesterday. Didn’t have to hold in for home AC charging just plugged and it locked (did take a bit of effort my end as it turns out I do naturally hold the plug in).
For the DC charger I held in until it locked but not sure if it would have locked anyway, it’s just the lock process took a few seconds.

I have the same problem. It is worse when it is cold outside. Last night I couldn't get it to connect at all. After trying for several minutes, I came in the house . I got a message that the car had started charging about 10 minutes later.
