Digital Display

Prior to receiving my Yaris Cross,  I looked at the analogue and digital dashboard display in various brochures and magazines.  Initially I thought the digital speedo font looked too small and wondered if it could be increased through the settings menu.  Well, no need, changed to the digital display this afternoon and the font size is very good.  I’m really pleased with this version as I think it is easier on the eyes than the analogue display.

Can you take a photo? I've been curious what it looks like but the pictures I've been pointed at didn't look that visible...

No problem Cyker, I’ll take photo in the daylight tomorrow.  The box brownie camera is on standby.

It’s really a question of individual preference as my wife likes the analogue display but I prefer the digital view.

Much prefer the digital speed display. The 2nd photo looks fine with the size of this speed digit.

Yeah it's nice having the choice, although I must admit I much prefer the massive digital display in the normal Yaris! (Not to mention the HUD! :naughty: )

It's a shame you can't customize it more 'tho, e.g. to make the digital speedo take up the whole centre!

I sometimes think that, because all dashes are turning into screens, it'd be cool to be able to customize them like you used to do with phone themes, e.g. design it on your computer or download a pre-designed theme and upload it to the car. Companies could make a fortune selling e.g. Hello Kitty-themed dashboards!

Hmm, on second thought...

Not sure if you can change the font sizes etc, from the settings menu but maybe it’s possible using an OBD adapter like CARISTA.  Anyway, I’m more than happy with the Yaris Cross and look forward to a nice long drive in the countryside around me  once this rotten weather clears up.

Yeah, the drivetrain in the Yarisusesusies is a peach, has just the right balance of power and economy so it's got that pleasing responsiveness but without pilfering your wallet!

I'll be glad when I get this sodding windscreen replaced so I can start driving on the motorway and generally hooning about again without 'growing-crack-anxiety' (not that crack you pervs!)

And what pray exactly would be wrong with a hello kitty dashboard?🐱

I shall answer that with a tune a friend of mine made:

What? We're going off topic?! Err, well technically this is a digital display. Of video. That could be put on the digital displ- no you're right I got nothing...

Wish I'd not asked now having looked at the video.🤢

I am sure that I will be having cat related nightmares for weeks.

The speed needle is quite broad and more difficult to read accurately than the needle point style.

The digital splay is only in 1 mph steps but if it shows 30 you are not doing more than 30 and the speed limit will not show a red 30.

Never thought a topic about analogue/digital speedo displays would lead to a Hello Kitty video.  Well, it’s the festive season and we all need a little bit of laughter at this time of year.  Well done Cyker.   Cheers 🍻

There are some 'catlovers' on this forum, nothing wrong with that. Cat is top dog erm top cat animal on this forum, we got catlover, hello kitty and plenty of cat theft.

It’s always amazing how topics end up in all different directions.  We’ve gone from speedo displays to Hello Kitty then to Adam Ant. Maybe Prince Charming, Stand and Deliver or Goody Two Shoes should be the next step in this educational forum. 🥁

Imagine that on a loop in a car full of fractious children,on the way back from a disastrous Christmas visit to the in laws.

With a headache and 200 miles to go.

Not that I've done anything like that for a long time, I think it was the frog song by sir Paul at that time in the mid eighties.

Well, in those days you could could gaffer tape their mouths shut, and beat them soundly before you set off in case they did anything wrong. (No, not really, even then)

The little nose miners made do with repeatedly kicking the back of the drivers seat, and shouting at ten minute intervals that they were thirsty, hungry,or needed a wee.

If only Peppa pig had been around in those days, my sanity may have remained intact.

I’m at that stage now.  I don’t listen to my parents anymore.

I hope you don't kick the back of your dad's seat anymore though.😁
