LED Interior lights - RAV4

Hi Members

Has anyone upgraded the existing interior (roof & boot) lights to LED bulbs on a 5th Gen RAV4 (2021)?

If so, did you do it yourself or did the Toyota Dealer carry out the upgrade?

Many thanks

I've done all the interior lights, boot, reversing, and puddle lights. All worked fine and I posted on here some time ago, others have also changed over to LED's.

It should be w5w led or a 501led both same bulb just some customers use both terms. If you type into google or try your local independent car parts shop they might even fit for you 5 minute job

I upgraded interior and reversing bulbs based on advice on this forum. Took about 30 mins to do all of them myself, the only one which was a bit fiddly was the dome light. Lots of videos on YouTube as well
Reversing bulb upgrade is particularly worthwhile if you live in a poorly lit area

Can anybody advise whether it is possible to get illuminated switches for the front interior/personal lights in the overhead console (as more or less impossible to find the right switch when driving in the dark)?

Simon, just spotted that my interior light switches are illuminated - so must have been a change for 22 models and therefore obtainable.

I upgraded the reversing lights and trunk or boot light. Added a portable PIR activated light into the boot too. Velcro back, sticks onto the seat backs. Only need to recharge it once every 3 months. All pretty bright in there now.

I got the bulbs for the rest of the interior but never got around to sorting it and now lost the desire and need. Puddle lights could be brighter so might be worth following Ernie's lead.

Got a feeling Toyota eventually upgraded all the interior lights to LEDs but could be wrong.

Much needed by Toyota. Should have done it the start of production. I was like, WTH, I've got incandescent bulbs in a 53k semi electric car. Wouldn't have been so bad if they put some actual light out. Suspect Toyota were using up their bulb stocks 🤣

I find this a constant problem. Was tempted to put glow in the dark stars on them like the ones you put on the ceiling of a kids bedroom.

Might actually be worth a go there are probably products designed for just such applications.

Never realised that the interior light switch has a raised dot ( braille like ) . Should help identifying the switch in the dark.

Has anyone tried similar?

Something like this could work but now I know there's some kind of Braille nipple I'm going to try that.

Same here. Now I can identify the light on and off switch before I often hit the door open/close light switch.
It appears the glow in the dark stickers get mixed reviews. Some say they only glow for a few minutes before needing a light recharge. These switches should be illuminated.

Exactly. Wth they didn't illuminate the switch you need to switch the blooming lights on.

I seem to remember the 2002 BMW didn't have illuminated switches but they had an easy to access rechargeable torch in the glovebox you could use to find what you wanted in the dark.
