Good evening, everyone. My Corolla Touring Sports has some rust spots and here are the pictures for the damage. Can anyone tell if it is eligible for the 3 year paint warranty? It's two rust spots on the roof. Car was registered on 6 Feb 2020.

Why don't you ask Toyota?

Too outcomes:

1.  They say no problem.

2. They say no.

In the latter case ask here if others had better results.  If the former let us all know.

I have asked Toyota. I'm just wondering if people think that it's eligible for warranty as I want to know other people's past experience with such warranties or if they've had similar paint damage 🙂

I had some white bubbles forming under the finish of an alloy wheel on an Avensis a while back and Toyota replaced the alloy without arguement. Car was around 3 years old at the time. That rust on your roof looks like it's bubbling up underneath the paint. Unusual to see that.

When you say you've asked Toyota, presumably you've asked a Toyota dealer, not Toyota - quite different.

If you've already asked your dealer, what was the answer?

The top area circled looks like external damage (stone chip?) which has allowed water ingress beneath the paint.

Hard to say really if a stone chip was the cause of the rust or the rust underneath was first and caused a chip to fell off as a result of under paint bubbling. If later Toyota should repair under warranty no question about.
I have many stone chips plus even the paint has started pilling off as I found my both rear doors were resprayed previously in Toyota dealer and obviously once the original paint been corrected never can match the quality protection of the original paint. Was the car bought brand new or used one? This is very important, as many used approved cars are actually non recorded accident repaired cars.

The dealer said to come down to them so they can thoroughly see the rust damage.

The car was bought used from a used car dealer.

In this case you will need to check if the paint is the original one and if not and Toyota refuse warranty repair then the dealer who sold the car maybe responsible for repair. Best as Roy suggested, see the dealer what they think and what they will do and let us know .
Good luck

Good evening, everyone. Just to end this thread, I decided to touch up the rust spot rather than repair it to stop it from spreading to save time.

  • Thanks 1
