Mileage Range

Haven’t had the chance or the inclination to work out my true mpg for my new car.  Filled up the tank on New Years Eve with the dash read out showing nearly empty.  It was a pleasant surprise to pay £39 to top up the tank, whereas my old car would have been nearer £70.  I realise that my old car had a bigger fuel tank and the price of petrol in my area has reduced to £1.41  a litre in the past few days.  Nevertheless, the digital dash  display shows that I have a range of 400 miles.  Think I’ll wait until the next the next fill up before I do the number crunching.

Yeah, the tanks on these vehicles are small but the range it’s not that bad. Most important is the mpg figures which are impressive 👍 Nice to see petrol prices going down. Last fill up in the morning of last year Tesco E5 for £1.46 , I was pleasantly surprised 👍

You don't know how fortunate you are. I filled just before Christmas at £159.9 (although that was E5).

It’s quite strange really.  Sainsbury’s were always the cheapest for petrol in my area until BP undercut the price by 5p a litre.  Then all of a sudden Sainsury’s reduced it  to £1.4.1  which was a reduction of 8p a litre from their previous price. Who really decides the retail price of fuel in the UK?

I'm unsure if anyone knows, but an app is available on Android (and IOS, possibly) called PetrolPrices. It is amazing as it tells you about each petrol station's prices and facilities.

PetrolPrices: UK Fuel Prices – Apps on Google Play

PetrolPrices: UK Fuel Prices on the App Store (apple.com)

It relies on people to report the petrol prices, but they seem pretty active, and this is what I use weekly/monthly.

Me too, I'd recommend Petrolprices, you can also use it from a browser if you don't want to have the app.

Paid £1.349 a litre yesterday for E10 at Tesco. That is lowest since September 2021 according to my spreadsheet.

I have been paying £1.309  for the last few months from my local Shell garage + a further 3% discount with a Shell card.
