Rubber Pad Marks On Windscreen

Cleaned the inside of the car today and noticed rubber pad marks on the outside of the windscreen.  Never really observed it before but the sun was low and extremely bright this afternoon which probably highlighted the circular shaped stains.  Tried to remove the marks using Autoglym glass cleaner without success.  I suppose the marks appeared during the build stage and will eventually fade away but I was wondering if anyone has a quick solution.

The rubber pads marks are probably from the rubber suckers that hold the glass as it is being installed in the factory.

Why not take it back to Toyota and ask them to remove the marks?

Thanks Stephen, I’ll probably do that if nobody can give me a quick and effective solution.  Cheers.

I've noticed similar on the inner side of a double glazed unit in the house I've just bought. Can only be seen under certain conditions. Think I'll just have to put up with it as one of the many 'quirks' of the place.

Many years ago, a colleague had double glazing installed and his wife insisted she could see a handprint within the glass, that no-one else could. Took a long time to sort out, because it would only happen under certain circumstances (sunlight angle). The unit was eventually replaced when it was proved it wasn't her imagination.

Marks like that usually cleans away with the time and each car wash , windows clean. No need to worry about it.

My last workplace got new windows and one of them was as you describe, the mark was on the inside of the glass.

Checked the windscreen again today when it was dull and overcast.  I could barely make out the circular shaped marks, so the very low angle and bright sunlight yesterday really did have an effect on the vision through the glass.  I’ll give the windscreen plenty of attention in terms of cleaning and hopefully the marks will quickly fade away.

Good thread - my car has some suction pad marks on the rear side windows from a previous owner. Tried white spirit, autoglym glass cleaner, body polish but still no luck in removing. Would welcome any suggestions

Try some of this, i had a big problem with grease on my screen which smeared every time the wiper swept, i used lots of different glass cleaners and this is the only one that worked.

I got mine off Amazon.

I have built model railways in the past, (one build currently in progress - very slowly!). Like a lot of modellers, I use the stuff for cleaning the metal rails. I got mine from the local chemist, but had to explain to them why I wanted it - probably because of the alcohol! 😁

Just keep cleaning the windows from both outside and inside every time you wash the car or more often and after few times the marks will disappear. You can simply use windows cleaner and microfibre cloth. 👍

Will do. Should have mentioned that they are only on the inside, i assume from using window blinds.

I've got some rubbing alcohol which, as MaxHeadroom suggests, might be a good solution too.

Have you tried some soapy water? Sometimes the simplest 'solutions' (haha) are the best!

My wife has just told me to check Mrs Hinch (the cleaning guru and influencer) website for tips!  Should have asked for her book as a Christmas present!  😉

You're right, someone else mentioned that same method recently for cleaning their windows.  Like you say the simplest ones are sometimes the best, i think in the search for THE ultimate cleaning solution/product/method we forget the obvious!
