Hello, I'm new here and I have a bit of a problem with my camry. I had the power steering pump, hoses and serpentine belt replaced and the fluid drained and replaced. Now when I start the car and accelerate it makes a whirring sound. The repair shop says the sound is from air still in the power steering system and should go away with normal driving, but is this really the case?

It sounds to me more like an Alternator problem as they can make a whirring noise as you increase revs and will run off the engine via a belt the same as the power steering pump does.

SORRY FOR THE MISSPELLING OF 'SOUNDS'

You seem a nice chap and the spelling, well, I've seen and done alot worse myself.

Writing in upper-case though is normally taken as someone is shouting.
