Hi all,

Happy new to everyone. I hope you've all had a good one.

I'm finding that my Aygo gets a lot of main screen internal condensation and I was wondering if anyone has any idea how to combat this? I've tried using a vehicle version of the silica gel bags, to no avail. I'm having to use a squeegy to clear the screen, which is leading to lots of water droplets on the dashboard/instruments, which I suppose over time won't do them any good. Any ideas or suggestions?

Have a look at the following:

Also closing the air vents when parked may help.

Hi Howard,

Don't think that much condensation could be considered normal even during the winter months.

Have you checked the spare wheel well and boot carpet for any signs of water pooling along with water in any of the footwells in the car or the carpets being wet?

Main screen internal condensation is a sign that there is a leak, where water is getting inside the car.

Now, the most common areas are:

1. Driver / Passenger door between the door and the black weather seal.  To verify, you can get someone spray on the car's roof while you sat in the car and watch.  Or just check the carpet for dampness.

2. Areas around the tailgate, i.e. The top brake light  Or The rear light clusters.

Seal up the leak, condensation will then go away.

However, there isn't anywhere near the same degree of leak history with the second generation Aygo (2014-2021) as there is with the first generation (2005-2014) - and from the OP's profile picture they have the second generation.

Hi,

in addition to all above you can also check your heating settings. Air flow should be set from outside and towards windscreen and feet. Speed fan minimum speed 2, if the car has ac you can use it to to dry the interior.
Clean the windscreen properly from inside with rubbing alcohol and clean cloth.

Having AC in "Eco" mode in winter caused a lot of front window condensation. Setting it to "normal" solved this issue for me.

On some cars the eco mode switches off the air conditioner. Ac usually helps drying interior faster than heating only but also cause more condensation afterwards. Once you start the ac you should keep it always ON until the end of your journey. Aygo is a small underpowered car , driving wit ac ON all the time will affect performance and efficiency a lot therefore during winter best not to use ac at all unless you drive only short trips 20min or less. The car heater will clean your interior as nice without AC but it will need slightly longer time, as soon as engine warms up and hot air starts to blow towards the windows it will clean them nicely and without risk of getting condensation as much after you switch off the car.

In my case the air conditioner was off in both modes. I have air conditioner off almost all year (it has separate button on dashboard ), turn it on only on really hot days in summer.
