Garage Recommendations

I have a 2006 Celica GT (limited edition one).

I have a turbo kit which was being fitted by a local 🛎️end who has made a right mess of the car.

I need a good garage who can give me a set price to check everything over - fit the turbo kit and get it back up and running.

I am based in Maidstone, Kent and the car will need collecting as it is now a non-runner. It was previously running perfectly.

Thanks in advance!

Louis

Hi Louis,

Mongers, Red Oak, and Elite garages are located around the Maidstone area and have all good customer reviews. If you have breakdown cover you may be able to get them to pick the car up. Failing that one of these garages should pick the car up.

If it was me I would phone around these three garages and get a rough idea of cost including pick up and decide from there.

Hope some of this advice may help.👍

Thanks for your help!

Ideally I am looking for a garage that specialises in modified card as its not just a simple bolt on / replacement job. Do you have experience with any of the above garages?

I won't be able to use breakdown cover as the car doesn't even have headlights or front bumper fitted at the moment! haha

You will be lucky to find someone that will touch it, it's not going to be cheap as the poor work has to be taken out and start again, is it a quality kit with a decent turbo or is it an eBay special

Nothing needs to be taken out as such - I need to job finished off - Its a genuine Garrett GT2860RS kit for the car with all supporting stuff (rail injectors regulator fmic, apexi FPC/commander etc) it's for a LHD car though hence not a simple bolt on job. Turbo needs to be clocked and hot / cold pipes need to be custom as the std setup fouls the Vac Servo / column.

It's not cheap crap hence I want to make sure the job is done properly.

Clocking the turbo is easy enough, an exhaust shop will be able to fab up the pipework - mock up, then back purge and weld it up

most place i know that are still about are either in essex or down by the Kent coast

a quick look on the web brings up A I motorsport 07746 888200 (don't tell me, that's who you used)

Sounds like a job for a specialist company rather than a local dealership/garage. Hopefully, someone on the forum will be able to give advice or at least steer you in the right direction.

Hi Lous,

I have a relative in Maidstone who has used these garages but not for any turbo work so can't comment. However take a look at this link as this company seems to specialise in turbo upgrade's repairs etc and will pick the car up in the Maidstone area.

Hope these are not the ones you already used and botch up the work. It's worth a ring if nothing else. Good luck.

The two semi-famous places I know of that do that sort of work are Fensport and Japanese Performance Parts (Of Wheeler Dealers and Car SOS fame).

Fensport might be too far as it's near Cambridge, but JPP is near Gatwick so might be more doable.

Few people have attempted fitting a Turbo, purely because of the RHD fitment issues. Far more have gone down the S/C route.

Have you been in touch with Lee Mabbett at Se7en Motorsports?.

AFAIK, he is THE man regarding power upgrades on the Gen 7.

I like to be different mate - I was one of the 1st to fit an RB engine to an s13 which everyone was telling me at the time couldn't be done lol

Se7en is a long way from me, id like to find somewhere more local ideally 🙂
