It supports 32A 240V x 32A = 7.6kW but on-board charger of current models limited to 6.6kW. There is an optional on-board 11kW charger with new orders.

Why would you not choose an 11kw charger if available?

... because a 22kW charger might be be better long term investment? 🙂

Basically, bZ4X owners will cope just fine with a 32A 7.4kW charger, but who knows what one's next EV will be able to take advantage of. So it makes sense to fit the 'largest' option that is economically and practically available.

I didn't know about the new 11kW option. Interesting.

This article says the same thing about the 32 amp capability. It also suggests the ChargePoint HomeFlex, which can go up to 48 amps. But is that too much? Why would I go with a charger that's more than what the car can handle?

That is an 11kW charger - 3-phase at 16A per phase = 48A which would be ideal for a bZ4X with an 11kW onboard charger.

The car will only take what it can cope with so there's no problem with having a more powerful charger installed than you actually need today. But will you really want to install a new more powerful charger when you next change your car? Probably not, so installing the most powerful charger that you can today probably makes good sense.
