Supra Sz Immobiliser

Hey People

I just called the garage to check what security come as standard with the 1996 Supra SZ. The salesman didnt really seem 100% but beleives this is no immobilser. Can this be true? Obivously it has remote lockin with an alarm. He offered to fit one for £100.

Anyone know if this is right ? Seems strange. He said the Japan immobilisers were not so common but i cant beleive that.

Tis true ! Apparently car crime is not such a big issue in Japan.

However if the car has a modern alarm fitted i'd be suprised if it doesn't have an immobiliser as well.

I think the car only has the standard toyota alarm (judging by the key) there i will prob fit a seperate alarm/immob. ive looked around and im guessing this will cost about 300 quid :( Still its well worth it for peace of mind!! cheers.

Most imported vehicles come into the Uk with little or no security devices at all. Most importers will offer a cat 1 alarm and immobiliser as part of the importing package (sva test, mot, speedo conversion etc) So really depends upon who imported the car into the country as to what security system is fitted to the vehical.

Quite alot of insurance companies insist upon a cat one alarm when giving you a quote for an import so it may be worth getting one. If the car does have on as you could see a decrease in your annual premium aswell as having the piece of mind that some junky isn't going to get away with your pride and joy.
