Loud noise /beep after starting

Yaris 18

Hi everyone

I recently had a small accident and hit the back of another car from less than a meter distance.

Since then upon starting the car there is a prolonged loud beep x 3

That’s nothing similar to a door left open or a parking sensor

One of my front parking sensors( attached to the black plastic part of bumper)  and all not working since then.

There are no red lights or any lights on dash board

My question is - Does anyone know what this noise is - Is it the sensors or something with the airbag

Thank you in advance for taking the time to read

Certainly sounds like the parking sensors have been dislodged or damaged. Probably wouldn't take much force to damage them.

A picture of the area would be useful EllieSG 👍

Hi,

have you taken your car for inspection and repair after the incident?
If not you should do so because sometimes it may not look like any visible damage has occurred but there might be something broken that can lead to bigger problems with the time. My suggestion is to book a car inspection with dealer and diagnostic.

Hi EllieSG, from your pictures there doesn't appear to be any serious damage.

I see on the last picture there is a sensor/camera on the grill, I would have a look at it to see if there is any obvious damage.

To me looks that damage has been done on inner parts. Bumper may need repair, replacement or just to be taken off and reposition again. Plastic details behold might be broken too. Better be fixed asap. The car has detected the crash and visit to Toyota dealer is needed. Perhaps that’s why there is a ding at the start up. 👍

Thank you. I was told today they managed to pull the front out and align the bonet. The cosmetic part is being fixed. I am getting someone to look at the sensors and will take to dealer to see for the crash detect. Can it be reset or something.

thank you for taking the time to reply

Hi EllieSG, yes as Tony said a reset on the collision detect system may be required 👍

Thank you for your advice. I have fixed the front now and it is all realigned.

I am trying to buy a new sensor but can only find the ones that are on the bumper and not the the one one the grill when searching…

Do they have any special name or something?

I know it has some rubber and black plastic around it , slightly different to the other ones on the bumper.

appreciate your time
