What products do you think are good for cleaning the fabric seats of a Yaris?Mine has a few stains on the back seat from the dog. He has also scratched one of the door panels.

I’ve been using Autoglym Interior Shampoo for years.  It’s a great all round cleaner which works  on dashboards, cloth upholstery, carpets and plastic door panels. For the pedantic, OCD and  Mrs Hinch followers, there are alternative products available.

Same as me.  I use AG Interior Shampoo.

For all interior materials I use dettol antibacterial spray and microfibre cloth, this as daily or weekly clean, dust, finger marks, and bacteria killing. For soiled marks on seats or upholstery I use car plan interior cleaner spray with built in brush, works magic. There are other more advanced valeting products and brands but these two works as good or even better and also widely available. Synthetic chamois, wet folded to finish the car plan spray over the mark after you rub with the brush leaves no marks after drying out. CarPlan IVC400 Interior Valet 400ml https://amzn.eu/d/1R5XOeg

I'm using this,

https://eshop.wurth.co.uk/Product-categories/Interior-cleaner/31083007030303.cyid/3108.cgid/en/GB/GBP/

work well for interior plastic.

What I'm not sure of is if the heating elements in seats are well protected for wet cleaning, In some YT videos they use lots of cleaning solutions I don't think they vacuum it all from the seats, but wondering if that heating is ok with it. Suppose it's sealed in foil or something. Because they maybe works right away after cleaning but maybe start corroding and eventually stop working.

And maybe one additional question:

On my first car, I spray a silicone lubricant(they wipe out) on every door seal on the car, someone told me to do that to prevent the rubber goes brittle, but my experience with this was bad, my door starts do stick to the rubber and after that, I don't do that again, but it was a many years ago and maybe I do something wrong. It's worth it to use silicone on rubber parts on car?

Regarding the heating elements, the seats and indeed most of the interior materials are designed to withstand some moisture like getting in wet through or rain entering when a door is open.  I do the occasional spray of AG Interior Shampoo and then use a damp AG Synthetic Leather to completely wipe the seat over.  I would only attend to a stain right now and do more general cleaning in better weather when I can leave the doors open on a nice warm breezy day.  My mate who is a professional valeter will think nothing of completely dowsing seats then using a wet vac to remove the bulk of water and heated seats don’t seem to suffer for it.

I absolutely don’t spray silicone on door seals since I once did for some reason.  They drove me nuts creaking and it took me a lot of effort to get rid of it.  The door seals add stiffness to the car and lubricants allow them to move.  I wipe with a damp cloth and mild cleaner is all they need.

If applying silicone to rubber door seals etc., I don't spray directly, but onto a cloth then wipe. Never experienced sticking or creaking.

A quick flick with a feather duster and wipe with a Vileda mop once year, around the interior, suits me fine.

Silicone on door seals is beneficial indeed particularly before the freezing season. If spray can been used best to spray on cloth and apply by hand instead of spraying all over the door shuts. I use on all rubber seals including bonnet and rear hatch, never had any frozen doors. 👍

Hahah, it does no joke 😂, But from the dashboard not the doors. The doors only let some air breeze getting in from the handles and it’s kind of refreshing 💨👌 no rattles though

My daughter runs an Auris (I just maintain it).  I must have a photo somewhere?

Another vote for gummi pflege. Use it every 3-4 months and really helps maintain the rubbers.

I do use silicone spray around the dash to reduce creaks, seems to help although the yaris is squeak/creak central! Just make sure to wipe off any overspray and avoid the steering wheel etc

I’ve just discovered the benefits of using rubbing alcohol to clean car windows.  I used it with a 1:10 solution with water sprayed it onto a microfibre cloth and buffed to a shine.  Great result and thanks to Max Headroom and others for the recommendation.

Do you have a link to the rubbing alcohol at all? It's something I'd like to try but not even sure where to get it.

Got mine from Amazon and delivered within 3 days.  You can also buy it at chemists in small amounts.

Forgot to say, you normally get it in 2 strengths 70% and 99%. I went for the stronger version but used a 1:10 dilution with water.  You can also use it on mirrors and stainless steel.
