Phone Connectivity on the 2023 Cross Excel is wireless.?

My 2021 Lexus Spec stated the same but required a Dongle.

Please confirm.

Only Apple carplay is wireless, and that is with the connect system only, the rest is tethered

Tel, phone connectivity is wireless with Android phones. 

I also understand that Android Auto may be wireless but this depends on your phone and not the car.

Terry, I see you refer to a Dongle on the Lexus.  That should work on the Yaris too if your phone is otherwise incompatible.  What make is your phone?

As it happens I think wireless (BT) connectivity is only really useful if you have a wireless charging for your phone.  On long journeys a wired connection charges my phone at the same time.

It uses bluetooth to initialize the wireless connection, wireless AA wasn't supported but things change

iPhone 14 Pro so will not require a Dongle but will need a charge cable as the superb Apple Car Play consumes phone Battery.

Which really makes wireless charging an essential if using car play etc

Yes indeed - and depending on phone type and which navigation app is used, the phone gobbles power and can actually overheat and shut down using wireless charging (ask me how I know this....) Learned the lesson, now use wired charging always for AA or CarPlay
