Exhaust gasket

Hi all had my car in to the local dealer for a fault , I thought it was a pulley or drive belt squealing, but turns out it’s a exhaust gasket half way down car roughly under back seats , I’ve put my head under car as I thought they were crazy with the findings , any way I’ve not got terms and conditions handy would anyone know of top of there head if it’s covered or not . Local dealer said not and want £177 to fix

many thanks

The car appears to be six years old, so it’s probably a wear and tear issue and won’t generally be covered by a warranty. It can’t do any harm to take the car to an exhaust specialist repair shop and get an estimate from them for comparison to the dealership.

As Bernard says above, I'd go to an exhaust centre for a quote.

I have no experience of your car, but this exhaust in the picture (for illustration only) is for a Verso, and is on eBay.  The noisy joint is likely the one at the top of the picture.

It looks like a standard spring-loaded joint from this picture.  There will likely be a graphite/steel wire doughnut as a gasket.  These can be as much as £40-odd.  When I had a similar problem on a Mazda 6 (a squeaking exhaust at tickover), replacing this doughnut was the official cure, it wasn't uncommon on that car.

Not seen this on a Toyota Verso.  Perhaps someone else knows better?

Hi just took car round to local garage he thinks like me originally it’s the belt , even though I could hear a noise from underneath the car like Toyota said he said he could find any leaks from exhaust but I could clearly here the noise he said it because it’s a damp day and it’s the belt .
think I’ll just have let Toyota fit the part they’ve ordered in the morning

Hi Bernard , my car near 2 gaskets on exhaust and upto now to squealing or screaming seems to have stopped, I must admit I thought it was the drive belt at first.
shame it wasn’t covered by the relax warranty as it’s not yet 6 years old and only done 31 thousand.

It’s good you got it sorted though, the relax warranty doesn’t generally cover wear & tear.👏

On a different subject I’ve got a squeal for nearly sixty years and it’s incurable, 😂🤣😂.
