Hi. Bought a '22 Corolla GR Sport with the Smart connect system. There is a Primary user profile stored in the system from the last user. I cannot find how to remove in the handbook, the supplying dealer cannot remove it. The salesperson who ran the car has left so cannot get them to log in and delete. Dealer is contacting Toyota to get a fix, has anyone experienced this when buying a used car?

Thanks, Mike.

Have you tried a factory reset on the Smart Connect screen - that should in theory remove all user data.

I've never tried it on a Toyota but it's worked in previous vehicles with user profiles linked to smart phones.

Hi. Thanks for the reply. Had seen that in the settings but hadn't  considered it. Will try that option. Thanks.

Just tried this, the system reset is ghosted out, suspect as I'm  secondary user it is unavailable. Think probably  only the primary user will be able to do this.

Lol, it seems the new cars are as trouble as selling or buying a used android phone, always something wrong with accounts and difficult to remove.

I too had this issue, however the primary driver was Toyota main dealer. Contacted them and they have removed the car from their account.
I believe the only way is to contact previous owner and ask them to remove from MyT app.

Would have thought it would be the dealer's responsibility to remove previous user accounts as part of the vehicle preparation. I'd be complaining to senior management at the dealership/dealer group.

From a recent experience with Toyota and same with Renault, I can say that (as far as I have seen) :

You can make a new profile on the car which should erase the old one.
In order to add your car, you need confirmation from the dealer that you are the owner.
They can add you and give a reset so you can set all things up.

I know this because .... .
When i returned home with my new Aygo X, my entire setup was ok and should have stayed like that.
A bit later , the system constantly asked me to connect to my profile. It didn't do so automatically. Note that there is a way to recognise KEY or bluetooth.
The first one is always in the car (if you use the same key for yourself all the time). The second one is not on for me always.

I removed the car from 'my Toyota' and couldn't set it up to connect with the radio again.
Somewhere in the manual or papers I read that the dealer must confirm the ownership before it can be done. I asked my salesman if he could... He said yes and after that it was all ok.

Used to have a Renault with a system like this. After I sold the car and somebody had set an account up for the car, I received a message that the car was removed from 'my Renault'.
Likely Toyota system workd the same, I guess.

Forgot to add, I can check the Primary Driver email by trying to sign in as the Primary Driver. It’s the dealer’s Gmail account.
I’ve provided this information to the salesperson. He initially had no clue as well but after speaking to the workshop manager the Primary Driver was removed remotely within a day 🙂

Have a go to see what email is linked to the PD.
