Hi,

While considering whether I should buy an IQ, I saw on another forum somebody posted that there is an issue with availability and cost of parts, seeing as it was a relatively bespoke model, unlike (say) the Aygo. What’s the actual experience of owners? Being the owner of a nearly 20 year old Audi A2 (something of a design cul de sac for the manufacturer) this can be something of a problem, and certain parts are no longer available, so you end up being dependent on breakers.

Only things that spring to mind are exhausts and front springs/shocks

Gearboxes can be tricky as it is unique to the IQ with driveshafts at the front

White cars can have an issue with paint, so it's not unusual to see repainted roofs and bonnet, be aware there are a fair few JDM imports so check the tax online or v5 for date of first registration

Audi A2, also a fantastic car! Great forum too, A2OC.net with very friendly and helpful people. Had 3 of them, 2 ATL's and an AMF.

Till now I didn't encountered parts supply problems regarding the iQ, even found brand new pattern shocks for the front...... Don't let it be a deal breaker, most parts can be found and engine wise it's got a lot in common with an Aygo (if you're going for the 1.0L 3 pot). It's a nice car!

Cheers!

The 1kr in the IQ has a different cylinder head as it has an EGR the same as the Mk2 aygo, iirc the 1.33 runs a different sump in the IQ
