Aye, not judging but an officious policeman could do you for showing white light at the rear.

Doesn't bother me as it isn't a conversion I would do.

My point is if manufacturers weren't required to have reflectors at the rear of cars, we'd just have rear lights that can be illuminated - ie. tail lights and stop lights. Converting the reflectors to lights calls into question whether the car will still meet MOT requirements having just rear lights.

To be fair though, how does that leave these daft Audis that have an entire bar lit up at the back all the time now?

I like rear lightbars like on the new Porsche , etrons, polestars.

Does anyone else wish the reflector strip along the back of the boot of the yaris was a cool led lightbar?

I do.

They're a bit marmite, not a fan personally, although if it's designed into the car well it can be okay.

A lot of the lights on higher end cars and esp. EVs just have this annoying "Look at me!" attention seeking quality about them that just rubs me the wrong way.

I'm more a fan of a more subtle understated look.

They still have legal reflectors.

No 🤣

Everyone will have lightbars, then to be different Audi will have TWO and then eventually all new cars will come with a small trailer you tow behind, just full of lights. 🤣

Personally, I like the look.  On my MX5 ND I fitted US Fender lights (blanking plates on UK models). A low car, it's better to be seen. Also an LED strip in the boot gap

Would love a link to the Yaris ones.....

All lighting fitted to vehicles must be type approved so if the reflector together with the led’s fitted within are approved they will carry an E marking eg(e20) if it doesn’t then they shouldn’t be used. A quick example go into Halfords take a look at the lighting products some will be marked with ( off road or show use only) as the don’t conform to the road vehicle lighting regulations. A lot of the items are bought via the Internet from China where they love extra bling.

I wasn't going to join in but a reflector is useless in the day time, it's meant to reflect light at night and if it can be turned on it becomes a light how ever you look at it.

I think the reflectors are for when the car is parked up...without lights illuminated. 🙈

Driving with the rear fog lights on at the hint of a bit of mist or when it's raining.

Parking on the footpath.   It’s not ever necessary and for 99% of the cretins that do it, it gains nothing whatsoever - it’s purely a habit.  Now wait for it……

4.  I was 65 in July (read that as exceptionally grumpy) and if I hadn’t patiently waited for everybody to indicate that should have done, I’d be 55.  It’s a lack of consideration that start within seconds of passing a driving test with many.

5. Dropping in too close after overtaking. Of course it’s seen as a skill by some although it doesn’t help that people can’t learn or are tested at the end of learning to drive on a motorway in this country.

There should be defeat device in every car that completely disables a phone other than if it’s connected to a a hands free kit.  That should also extend to touchscreens.

Illegal in London, and soon to be elsewhere (not before time, in many instances)

Worse, when your cruise control radar puts your brake on and the car behind gets real close....

Good ideas.  My MX5 touch screen disables at 5mph and you have to use manual knob to navigate around the screen and then push-click.  However, in practice, your eyes are off the road longer because of overshooting an icon selection.  Good-ish idea, badly implemented.

They keep talking about it but I’ve been buying Euro 6 cars since 2015 to suit the forthcoming every reviewed emissions charge.   The first snowflake complains and it all becomes a bit too much for the powers that be.

Mazda systems are perfect.  That command knob is the best idea since sliced bread.  They only time I’m not in full control of my car is when I’m messing about with that CarPlay screen.  It’s impossible to touch something on a screen without looking at it and when you’re looking at it you’re not looking where you’re going.

By the way you don’t need to navigate as such.  Rotate it clockwise or anti clockwise and it goes top left to bottom right and vice versa very quickly just stopping to hit select.  Utterly brilliant.

Yes!! For some reason this has been happening to me an increasing number of times lately - Someone'll signal they want to move into my lane, I'll lift a bit and leave a *massive* gap in front of me for them to pull into, and instead of slotting in the middle, they slot in so close I can't see their numberplate, forcing me to brake, then to compound it all, despite having a massive gap in front of them, they slow down more!

A couple times I've just whipped round them and slotted back in front of them, such was the size of the gap in front of them.

Some of the stupidest ones have been when there are no cars in front or behind me, and a car wants to be in my lane, and again, pull in right in front of me - They could have gone either further in front or behind, but no they have to be right where I am.

Why?! Is my Yaris that good looking?? Is the high voltage Battery producing a magnetic field in the bodywork??

How do these people have driving licences!? :confused1:

I live in a village where the main road us straight and in places quite wide no one parks on the pavement.   When a car approaches the car coming the other way will pull in on the parking side.

No one, having moved into the clear offside lane expects the other car that has right of way to yield.

Into this nirvana the Tesco delivery van pulls onto the pavement where there are no other cars and the road is wide.  He is not delivering but waiting until his next time slot.  I take his picture 📸
