2021 Cruise Control not working

Hi all

When I push the button on my steering wheel my cruise control radar light doesn't come on. I noticed my auto full beam being weird last night too..

So I went to clean the sensor from winter grime and found it was cracked (see pics)

I presume this will require a trip to Toyota... thoughts appreciated!

Thanks

James

That’s where the radar aerial etc., is housed so yes a trip to the local dealer. Just hope that they do not suggest external damage and therefor not covered under warranty.

Not sure how it would be covered under warranty. It looks like a stone impact to me.

ETA: You may be lucky but I wouldn't count on it.

That could be linked to the cruise control issue but I wouldn't have expected it to affect the auto full beam. I can't imagine the latter uses the radar sensor, only the camera at the top of the window. Cruise control uses both. So could it be something interfering with the camera (ice, snow, salt spray)?

With the radar, maybe the cracks are distorting the signal but you should be able to remove it and see if it works ok without (I think it should). Hopefully you can avoid changing the Badge, if you can put up with the cracks, because they are silly expensive for what they are.

I think the auto headlight would be the camera system. Snow will, for sure, stop the Radar function. It’s happened to me a few times after a quick stop and clean - all systems go.

Ordinary (non radar) Cruise might work, if that's any use to you.  Press and hold the CC on/off button if you want to check.

Also be careful you have not accidentally caught the button and set car to trail mode, I seem to remember cruise control doesn't work in that mode as it caught me out once.
I wouldn't have thought a cracked plastic Badge would affect the radar.

Sheepishly I have some good news…

All is working fine, user error the culprit!

I was pressing the distance to car infront button to activate it rather than the circle one on the steering wheel.

Woops! Where’s Wally completed.

We've all done something like that before.

My auto headlights were playing up last week - turned out due to ice on the camera. Unfortunately That looks like damage - hope it isn’t too expensive……
