IQ purchase checklist

Hi

We are looking to buy an IQ, preferably a “2” manual in a nice colour. Can someone point me towards a list of common things that might be good to check before purchase?

Thanks Julian

Pearlescent white IQs have a history of peeling paintwork. Some have been resprayed by Toyota under goodwill, but now the car must be less than 10 years old and have a Toyota service history to be considered. Bear in mind that IQs were discontinued in the UK in 2014, so only 2014 and some 2013 models may now be eligible.

On some 1.0s vibration can be experienced around 2,000rpm. Some owners have found that replacing the clutch can cure this.

Very valid.  ( The 2 is the best version I think... )

I would also agree: be cautious with white paint, CHECK and DRIVE with a focus on the Clutch.

Do the usual due diligence: HPI, MOT History Check, a thorough check of all things.

Be mindful of the price. Some are very high - not always justified?

Hi

thankyou for the replies. It’s useful then that I would not buy a white car, nor black or silver. Not really my thing. Would love an orange or blue one, bright red or purple would also be good. I realise my preference limits options quite a bit.

prices do seem to vary wildly. I don’t mind paying for a real nice one, preferably a 2!

cheers, Julian

I bought mine privately. (AutoTrader)

I think if you do your homework, check out the seller, etc, there are bargains to be had.

Agreed, I always prefer to buy privately from the previous owner 👍
