1993 Toyota Lucida 2.2 diesel auto performance upgrades

Hi all,

I have just purchased a 1993 Toyota Lucida 2.2 diesel auto. I am in the UK but have bought the Lucida in Pakistan where I will be going for 6 weeks in the summer to tour the country. I need some help and advice on how to modify the car in order to make it faster as it is extremely slow being a 90s diesel automatic.

What are my best options to modify the car? I wanted to change the gearbox to a newer 5 speed auto, is this possible and what gearbox would fit if it can be done?

 

Im also looking to get performance injectors if they're available, getting a boost controller to increase the boost on the existing turbo to 10psi, a bigger intercooler and an Uprated exhaust system.

Do the above modifications make sense and would they see a noticeable difference? I'm not looking to make the car a drag Racer, just want to make so it can feel like a more modern current vehicle, cars in Pakistan are extremely expensive to buy hence why I've had to get a 90s car.
