I see some new vehicles now show tyre pressure for each wheel (TPMS) monitoring within a app on the smart phone.

Hi Derek,

I see you have to download the app go in to my garage and it will monitor the tyre pressures. I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing. Many newer models already have TPMS monitoring on the dash so I am not really sure why you would need to monitor tyre pressures remotely.

If the app remotely inflated the tyre this would be a great bit of technology.  I'm sure someone will give me the positives of this app but I can't see it at the moment. 🤔

Bob, sensor display on an App would be most useful.  At the moment I can check doors and windows, fuel percentage, and switch on the conditioning while sitting comfortably having my morning coffee.

Checking Aux Battery status, HV SOC, external temperature and tyre pressures without venturing outside are all things I expect of a smart connect system.

Restoration of the send to car routing would be useful, especially if it could be down loaded at the car before i  get in it.

Accessing my car cameras on demand would be useful too.

My home is already equipped with Apps that allow for temperature monitoring, security sensors, cameras etc.  One of my remote cameras has a Battery life of 7 years.

I realise that this on demand access could deplete the 12v Battery but with 12v monitoring I would be aware.

Roy I understand the benefits of an app for pre conditioning but not for TPMS. I am trying to understand why this would be of any benefit to see this remotely when it does this on the dash.

I suppose if it tells you a tyre has lost pressure it could be used to get the pump out the boot or garage prior to travel, but unless you have a stand alone pump you have to plug this into the cars 12v so but switching on the ignition will tell you a tyre is low anyway.

On a separate note I would be interested to learn what camera system you are using with a 7 year Battery life as I have had nothing but problems with a Eufy system we brought a couple of years ago.

As far as TPMS remote app I welcome your experience.👍

The alarm system I use is Visionic.  It has an AA size Battery (cant remember if it is 2 batteries) and 3.4v and costs an eye watering £26.

The TPMS only tells you the pressure after you power up, select TPMS from the menu, and wait until it tells you the pressure; the display is not instantaneous.  I agree about the pump, but if I could, say, check while having breakfast or the night before a trip, it would be more convenient.

Yes I can see the pros if you prefer the level of technology that this offers. From my own personal experience of phone apps, Latop, Tablets etc I have spent more years trying to figure out why the dam things crash the one time you really need them.😅

Thanks for that Roy, but we have a stand alone wireless camera system that isn't part of an alarm system and by the time we get a notification of movement we could have had  two weeks holiday. 😅
