Does the accelerator pedal stick?

Or sometimes when getting used to a car that is new to you, it's easy to not release the pedal enough to drop the revs.

Over revving 200-300 rpm's is normal.

Something to do with economy and makes for an easier shift.

My old mazda 3, also 1.6, used to rev 500 rpm's more, and i loved it so much, you take it to 3.5k-4k rpm, and when changing gears,  it grunts like a little soldier.
