2021 Yaris Headlights

Hi, I recently became the owner of a 70reg Yaris Hybrid and wondered how other owners find the head lights? Mine are very poor (Excell model) and I have resorted to lowering the height level and running on high beam. Despite this no oncoming cars have flashed at me ! I believe Toyota do a brighter bulb ( opti-white) but have heard they don't offer much or any improvement.  Any advice please?

Halogen bulbs on the Yaris are poor. The opti white are an good improvement from reading comments, but they are not cheap and perhaps not quite the brightness u would want either. Heard Hella bulbs are decent too.

The Toyota Optiwhite bulbs are made by Philips. You could also consider the Philips X-treme Vision Pro 150, the Elta Vision Pro 150%, or Elta's Lucas branded  Lightbooster 150% bulbs

doesn't the Excell come with LED headlights in the Mark 4?

Indeed, and they look very cool and powerful to me, even a bit too much.
Perhaps it 70 reg mk3 if there are any like that registered that late .

Thanks for the swift response guys, but I fear I've misled you. My car is an Icon not excell ( base model) but is a mk4

Shame on you.  Yes it’s got normal halogen bulbs.  Nightbreakers are a good upgrade.

Nightbreakers get a lot of positive comments.

They do but remember they don’t last long, actually they have very short life.

Wasn’t aware of that Tony.  My wife had a Skoda Kamiq which was an excellent car and had LED headlights.  Occasionally looked at the Skoda owners forum and there were always complaints about models with halogen bulbs.  Nightbreakers were favoured replacements by a lot of the members.

I’ve had loads in different cars and never replaced one.

They are low short life. It changes from car to car (different onboard voltage ) but they just don't last. It's the price for thinner tungsten filament inside the bulb, it's getting hotter and brighter than usual, that's why they burn faster, as a manufacturer you can prevent that when the protective atmosphere is purer(expensive to achieve) than standard but this technology is on limit. Bumpy roads are also bulb killers I think.

If you are ok with the price, just try them, you will see.

It obviously depends how many on/off cycles they go through and length of time they are on, but I did have a pair of original Osram Nightbreakers (H4) which lasted 6 years before one popped. I changed both to a newer Nightbreaker version about a year ago.

Rural roads and used quite frequently.

And when l.e.d.s are fitted illegally into lights not intended for them they are certainly not cool but, in my opinion, rather selfish and inconsiderate to other road users

To improve your Yaris Hybrid's headlight performance, check if the headlights are properly aimed and consider upgrading to higher-quality aftermarket bulbs or headlights. Driving on high beam or lowering the height level may provide some improvement, but be mindful of other drivers.
