Aye Neil, I had a 2002 s type with the 4.2 .

As you say,a lovely magic carpet ride, and very charismatic engine.

But I soon got very fed up with it going into limp mode every trip.

It would have cost many times it's value to even diagnose the problems that it had, according to the local Jag specialist.

It must have been some motor when it was newer and running right though.

I had an Accord 2.0 back in the day.  It was the first car I had with cruise control and it absolutely freaked me out the first time.

Haha, yeah, my dad would absolutely not touch it in the first car we had with it, was convinced if he even brushed the control arm we'd instantly be catapulted in to a firey wreckage with every car in front of us

(That was a 90's Ford Granada Ghia tho' so he may not have been wrong...   )

Bper,re Honda, sorry Bob I missed your post earlier.

Yes the car before this one was a 2012 Honda CRV 2.2 idect diesel, manual,6 speed box.

So easy to get in and out of , due to just about perfect seat height for less flexible folks, not too high that you have to climb,or too low that you have to let go and plummet hoping for the best.

Very torquey engine, and ticked over around 2000 ish rpm at 70 in sixth.

It actually used less fuel than my tsport too , but it was the wrong car for the kind of use that changed circumstances dictated.
