Most Reliable Toyota Combustion Engine?

As title! My only criteria when it comes to buying a car is reliability. So I've narrowed my search down to Toyota.  Now just want to know which UK Toyota model(s) have the most reliable combustion engines?

New or used vehicle ? Avoid anything with the BMW (n47) 1WW 2WW diesel - long since discontinued

Used, my budget is around £2,000.

Also now thinking of buying an estate I can sleep in. So want an estate where the seats fold down without any lip. I vaguely remember seeing this on a taxi Avensis?

That sort of money, avoid high mileage diesels an estate that narrows it down

what is your location

Topics merged - Geeral Discussions is the right place.

Estate and budget requirements probably limits you to the Avensis or possibly the Corolla Verso/Verso (which is an MPV) or Rav4 (SUV).

I'm guessing avoid most diesels?

Seen a Avensis 2.2 D-4D T180 5dr close by, are these models reliable?

Many major cities are going the way of London with Ulez any diesel before late 2015 are £12.50 a day and the zone is being expanded this year

older diesels at that type of money are going to be neglected if you get a injector or SCV go bad, the car is scrap TBH

Thanks Frosty.

Not bothered about congestion charge as mostly motorway. But because diesels have injectors prone to failure? Best play it safe and avoid all diesels?  Just been Google imaging and from what I can see all RAV 4's and Avensis seats fold down without any lip?

Nope.... 2.2 d is known to have several problems and to be less durable.

Pre-DPF 1ND-TV gets my vote for most reliable engine, but that's not very helpful to you if you want an estate car/MPV.

Next pick would have been any of the hybrid drive-trains, but thanks to the ULEZ causing prices of them to shoot up, it's unlikely you'll get a hybrid estate for anything close to £2000.

If avoiding diesel, and looking at a Toyota estate/MPV in that price bracket, you're most likely limited to one of the various 1.8VVTis, which are generally reliable aside from a few generations which had issues.

1NDTV in a Corolla. Great combination. Built to last.
