Possible thread drift, but I thought I would post it anyway 😉

The Corolla was booked in for the DCM software update today and I had requested a courtesy car. The courtesy car turned out to be an Aygo X with Michelin E Primacy tyres. But with today's heavy snow etc., the car had virtually no grip and I barely made it off the forecourt. To cut a long story short: I returned the Aygo X after five minutes of driving and rebooked the appointment for later this month - the combination of summer tyres in the snow, the very wet weather and the low temperatures was an accident waiting to happen. The Michelin CrossClimate 2s, by contrast, are excellent - no issues with snow etc. whatsoever 👍

That’s what they are made for.👌

The Aygo X also has low profile eco tyres which make the things even worse.

No want Aygo Drifto!

I'm a bit greedy with tyre specs - I want it all! High wet performance, high aquaplaning resistance, high lateral grip, short wet and dry braking, long life, low noise and I want all that for a cheap price

Alas a near impossibility these days, but I got near that one time on my first diesel Yaris - a full set of Continental Premium Contact 2E for something like £35 each!

Those were good tyres...!

Made the later Premium Contact 5's seem very disappointing - They had similar performance but cost more and lasted maybe 7,000 miles vs the 25,000+ I did on the PC2E's.

After that started jumping around trying others, Goodyear, Dunlops, Bridgestone, Hankook... want to try some Michelins but they're soooo expensive

Interesting to hear of someone else with same tread wear as mine on Falkens. My tyres are always perfectly inflated to the lower numbers in the door (3 passengers) and have worn out exactly as yours have.

I’m now running Goodyears all round.

I saw on the forums here that if you run your hybrid corolla bout 2-4 PSI above the high number, you get increased ride quality. I foudn it hard to belive but ditried it and lo and behold, it improves the ride quality, so I've done about 10,000 miles on my Continental eco contact 6 (factory tyres) and at the service they said they were wearing even, obv front have worn 1 mm more than rears with the driver side slightly more than passenger (makes sense considering I rarely have passengers).

Seems like you might gain by slighty overinflating your tryes, and no, I have not had any punctures.

Interesting. The dealer replaced some worn fronts on the car I've just bought and the new tyres were over inflated by several psi. I've reduced and am sure fuel consumption has increased. Can't comment on ride quality but think I'll put a bit more in and see.

Best to stay close to the numbers on the door label. Tiny bit on top it’s fine but not too much. Harder tyres does not provide any benefit but lack grip, comfort, and wear faster in the middle. Anytime over 0.5bar goes over inflated . 👍
