Hello everyone,

I have a 2005 Corolla 1.4vvti and the gearbox is stuck in reverse. I’ve been looking for a new gearbox but struggling to find one. Was wondering if anyone knows if the gearbox in my car is the same as another model or not?

TIA

Hi,

Are you sure its the actual gearbox ?  Could it be a faulty gear lever mechanism or the two cables to the gearbox seized or damaged ?

Also worth checking the actual gearbox selector inputs shafts / linkage that the cables operate are free to move.

There used to be lots of Gearbox / Transmission repairers around who did the corolla boxes when popular, but few doing them now, though worth checking in your area, assume the box was otherwise ok before this problem ?

Otherwise its a breakers yard or if you look on eBay there are some "refurbishers" showing them for around £300,  plus it will be false ecomomy not to fit a new clutch when the box is out, thats another £100, if you are doing it yourself.

Don't know if the 1.6 box is the same as the 1.4 but sure other members will be able to help there if you do need a replacement box.

One possible source, but no idea if thye are any good.
