Can't search for destinations in sat nav, but can voice search for them.

Hi all. New BZ4x owner here.

Having issues trying to search for destinations using the inbuilt nav search. Voice search is fine, but when looking for postcodes or city names, you click 'go' and it sits there spinning.

Its just been with the dealer for other 'updates' and I asked them to check that out - they said they did an update on the system/map - but its still not searching.

Anyone here had issues with this?

Thanks

Mark.

I had the same problem. The dealer did an update of the car, and now everything is fine.

Yes, I've had exactly this problem. As you say voice recognition works reasonably well. Never worked at all with typing in from the screen. I use CarPlay and Google Maps most of the time. The Toyota navigation is actually not too bad apart from this one rather obvious fault...

They say they did that when I dropped it in yesterday, but checking back home shows no change in its behaviour. I tried 'Guest mode' in case it was a profile issue - no change either. so its booked in again next week and I will demo it to them. And I have a trip to Glasgow in it this week 😉

When I was at the dealer the update took about 45 mins. They also did some critical update as well at the same time. I think all of the Bz4x here in Norway was called in for this update in January. I forgot to ask what the update was, so I do not know what the updat was for..

I have exactly this problem too.  I emailed mytoyota@toyota.co.uk - their response on 05-Jan-2023 was:-  "We are aware of an issue affecting some multimedia systems from entering post codes, a fix for this is in development and we are hoping to release this in the coming month."

What frustrates me most is that there is no easy way to determine whether Toyota are aware of specific issues; what the status of any fix is; and how you go about getting the fix (i.e. "Over The Air" or "Dealership visit").

Based on some posts above I was hoping this fix was already available. Same issue for me and i also got the "old" map version that does not show any charging points. I got the car booked in for a SW update in a week.

Today, I had 'low battery' warning (about 25 miles range) mode and the Toyota sat nav immediately offered me several local charge points to go to. So that is working as it should. But I still can't search by typing in address or postcode. I don't know if my update is latest or not.

One thing to try with EV charge points (if you haven't done this already) is to go into the Navigation screen on the multimedia display and see if you can add 'EV charging stations- Rapid Charge' to the POI (points of interest) list under Automotive Facilities. This can be accessed from 'Show POI Icons settings'. on the main Navigation settings. Some screen shots below:

Hi.

I suffer from the same or a similar sat nav problem.

Sometimes I type in the postcode or town and immediately on the right it displays the options.

Other times there is no display on the right and when I press go it just displays a thinking sign.

When I have this problem selecting recent or favourite locations still works!

Does it pick up new location on some telecoms link to MyT?

What if there is no/poor mobile phone coverage?

Tried it at home with good mobile signal and with WiFi connection- still the same problem. I reported it to Toyota connectivity centre https://www.toyota.co.uk/help-centre/connectivity but no response yet. Maybe if a few more of us report the problem Toyota may start to take note?

I reported it too. Yes we must all report to take their attention.

This issue has now been fixed by Toyota.  If you install the software update on your Car Multimedia system (Settings > Software update) to version 1040, and restart the car once done, you'll be good to go.

There is a "History" label on the same screen that lets you see that 1040 has been installed.
