Same day as BSB? Forget about it, the roads will be packed and the 1-way will be in force for miles around.

I propose a NEW venue. Really!

System~G won't reply until next week as he is away.

I agree with super retard, I think being in the area will be a nightmare.

Speaking as a biker myself, you really don't want to share the roads with these particular 'weekend warriors'... especially not 20,000 of them!

Is Silverstone too far south for a Midland mini meet because they're having another drift practice session,

There were some other owners clubs there last time:

GTROC, RX-7's OC club

Sunday 19th September 3rd Practice Session

Below is the details I left everything in :

Practice Events will cost £60 per person, with a maximum of 40 cars per event while Competition events will cost £75 in advance per person or £100 on the day, with a maximum of 45 cars per event.

Spectators pay just £10 per person for the competition events (£3 more than Donnington)

BUT

. Spectating at practice events will be free.

The practice days are run in addition to the competition series so that the pro's can get a little extra practice before the competition rounds and the amateur drifters can get a feel for what drifting is about and get some basic tuition from the OPT professional instructors.

The practice events will take place on the vast expanse of the Silverstone car parks near the main entrance to the site. The day will begin with a driver briefing before starting the event at 9:00am.

One area of the car park will have four different corner arrangements with an instructor in each section. The sections will contain a donut, figure of eight, 180 bend and an s-corner arrangement. Tuition will consist of spending 15 minutes with each instructor to get a basic overview on each of the different sections and as the day runs from 9:00am – 5:00pm, with 4 slots per hour, we hope to be able to give at least 25 people basic tuition throughout the day. This tuition will be offered primarily to novice drifters who have never been to one of our events before. If there is a large demand for tuition then a roster will be made on the day and time slots given out.

The other area of the car park will have a complete loop track section, allowing you to practice your drifting techniques through a seriers of different corners. The track section will be open all day for everyone to practice on. Team drifting can be practiced at the event but for obvious reasons 'side by side' drifting must take place only by mutual agreement.

Just an Idea

Apologies for the amount of text but it hopefully answers the important questions.

One last thing because it's free it might have a Chav element

Has a venue been decided?

Cos Last time it was still up in the air.

Has everyone else from the midlands who was thinking of going to the mini meet gone on holiday? Is LOC still doing their own thing or what?

I've mentioned before that drift practice is free,

I've also asked before what the Lex OC are doing, heard nothing more about that.

I've now noticed the South TOC meet is in bristol on the same day. So if I don't hear about a decision on the venue by then I'll be going to the South one.

Please don't read this like I'm cheesed off. I just like to know so I can make a decision.

Don't think I'll be able to make this due to my car being finished off in the bodyshop, but how about doing a karting day with a bite to eat afterwards?

Good for spectators who wish not to take part but can watch the battle on the track and then a good social gathering with a meal?

There must be some good local places in the Midlands that would be worth a visit.

just an idea, I'll be there if my car is done in time

:( just recieved email about drift practice on Sunday 19th sept

it reads as follows:

"Richard,

Due to continued insurance problems we are having to rethink the practice

event and it may not happen at all.

Any changes to the event will be posted on the website so please keep an eye

on that .

Thanks,

Manish Sidpara

OPT Drift Club

www.ukd1.com"

please note he is referring to the practice session on the carpark

NOT the Competitions on the track Which are still goin on.

And I might be able to make it now due to making a promise before checking if dates clash.

But may get out of it, if I can work my charm

The practice session at silverstone is no more. it's not happening, as I stated in the my previous post. So another venue is required.

Is RWYB still on at the Santa Pod on the 19th? someone mentioned it in another post I think.

I'm keen to hear what's going on too.

I think the RWYB at the pod is still happening. But it looks like the weather is going to be crap so they will probably only have a few short runs on the day. I can't afford to run my car either.

Whatever happens - I still have the day time allocated to TOC. In the evening I am going to Milton Keynes with the Northants Jap lot B)

So are we settling for the original plan?

Grand Prix collection at Donnington along side the British Superbike championship

or

Santa Pod RWYB

Note: Both are affected by weather so that's not an issue when deciding which one to choose.

the issue is traffic/journey time.

GP collection would be nice to see but traffic might be heavy.

Santa Pod may have a wider selection of vehicles and less traffic.

However I've not experienced the journey to Pod so somebody else who knows what it's like, please advise.

if I don't hear anything else by Saturday, I'm gonna fly south (bristol Southern meet) on Sunday. I'd really like to meet the Midlands Peeps. but I might have to wait a while.

I only live 20 minutes down the road from the pod - just off M1 J16 & J15. Traffic has never been a problem getting to or from the Pod. Only on days like Japshow or the like. Generally for RWYB days it's not too bad.

I don't know what entrance and race costs are like for RWYB events.
