Hello All

So washing my car today and noticed an odd line along the edge of one of the sensors on the windscreen, it looks like a crack ( not sure where it came from and can't feel anything on the outside) it's seems to be exactly inline with the sensor housing and doesn't go passed the housing, could it be glue or something from fitting the sensor or is it a crack on the inside of the windscreen. I have windscreen cover on my car so happy to call them out but don't want to waist anyone's time or is this a Toyota issue ? PXL_20230205_153656528.thumb.jpg.17b68bbb484787e78968c9d5985a9c32.jpg

This might not be a crack but just the glue or abrasion for the glue to adhere to the windscreen surface. If me I will leave it until gets properly cracked if it’s a crack indeed. Not visually broken, no moisture in I won’t touch it. Windscreen replacements aren’t without drama on these cars these days. 👍

Yes to Tony’s HSD post, if it’s a crack it will soon manifest itself 🤪. Just go with the old adage “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”.👍

Yeah, I was a little bit worried about getting the screen replaced, as it's only 2 months old and I have read alot of stories of problems with sensors and HUD after the screen has been replaced. I was going to mention it to Toyota next time I was in there

I would say it's not a crack in the screen. It just doesn't look right for a crack forming. If you cannot feel anything on the outside then I would agree with Tony that it's a glue residue of some kind. Just keep an eye on it.

Yeah I am tending to think that, the only thing is the other week it was -6 outside and I have the heating on inside 22 and I heard what I thought was a stone hitting the windscreen on the motorway but couldn't see any damage, could it be a stress crack on the inside

had the same happen years ago, summer morning deserted motorway bang, windscreen cracked, three months later just parked in the garage screen cracked again, the guy who fitted it only took about half hour , the second guy took a couple no problem from then on , so yes it could be a stress crack.

I got a crack in the windscreen a couple of months ago on a my22 with hud, replaced by auto glass who re calibrated the sensors during replacement, no issues although the hud display looks a bit compressed now but could just be my eyesight

Is it a scratch from defrosting the screen with a scraper?  Mine is scratched beyond  belief, looks like it has been vandalised. Glass must be poor quality.

This is why it's generally recommended to not use the scraper; I usually use the hard rubber bit to get most of it off, and by then either the windscreen's warmed enough to soften the bits it couldn't scrape off, or I resort to the dreaded scraper!

Still, better than that deicing spray melting the paintwork

My neighbour uses a plastic bag full of hottish water and rubs it all over the windscreen - Seems very effective, and keeps her hands warm too!
