Corolla Audio Installation Questions

I was looking at installing an Amp and Sub into the trunk of my 2003 corolla, considering the good deal I got on the sub and enclosure. But this is new territory for me, and I'm confused and where you would run the wires(preout/rca cables, power, on/off detector, and ground). I was going to mount the amp on the back of my rear seat, driver side, and would like any information, links to guides, or any other information concearning running all these wires from the amp down into the frame and up to the deck and proper fuse locations. As far as details go for the installation I would like to run the wires down to where the seat folds then out of sight, where ever that may be, also I'm going to be running 4 gauge wire with a pretty thick sidewall, if that has any relavance on location or wireing.

Any information would help out a ton, thanks a lot.

Sound is my game and Rollaboy is my name ;)

Firstly: run your RCA cables on one side and your power cables on the other side! this will stop any ground loop interferance.

Secondly: buy yourself a proper fuse holder designed for car sound. make sure you put the right size fuse in the holder. the place where you bought the amp from should be able to help you with this.

also only connect the power cable to the Battery once everything else is connected.

rollababy- Yeah I got cables/fuseholder/all those goodies with a kit that came with my amp, so I just plug the power directly to the Battery with only the fuseholder in between the amp and the Battery?

man-bing- what parts exactly must you take apart in a 2003 corolla, or where is a post or tutorial that i can referance(you talked about this in your last post at that link)?

Ok after some asking around and a few hours alone with my car i have managed to run the wire back down through the plastic sidings in the cabin of my corolla, and found it rather easy to get the wires up to the deck, now through the fire wall and to the Battery is a different story that is kinda tough. I even have managed to find a proper ground, but im still a little confused as if i should directly attach the wire to my battery(the power not ground) or should I run it into a fuse box?

The power cable of the amp is to be connected to the Battery directly, and not to the fuse box. The fuse that came with your amp should be connected in-line with this cable, about 30cm from the Battery terminal connection.

alright lads, not a pro at this but not a novice either.

installed my own sub and 2 amps without probs b4 (well novice probs, but soon learnt). all of wires go down one side of the car. i remember someone saying this might affect ground loop interferance? wat does that mean and is a major prob? havent noticed anything in the past!!

and badboybeyer, the link to that tutorial thing man-bing was talking about is on his link!! its in bold saying link to forum topic!!

Well, your audio cables seem to be shielded from external interference (e.g. power cable) quite well. But some cheap audio cables may not be shielded well, in such a case its better to wire the audio cables on the other side of the car.

Better to be safe than sorry!

There can be a bit of a humming sound when you run cables parallel with each other, when it's really quiet, but i'm sure your not going to listen to your music at that level, unless it was a really crap recording level
