2007 Auris D4D 2 Litre -P0093 Error?

My 2007 Auris D4D 2 Litre was difficult to start during cold weather. Looks like the common problem for this is the SCV valve, which I replaced. I also replaced the fuel filter at the same time. Since then I have been having problems with the car going into limp mode and displaying a P0093 error.

The car was running great before this (except the cold starting) with no errors.

Any ideas what could be causing this problem?

Hello How many kilometers does the car have? How many revolutions does it reach and then it cuts? You should also have your turbo and particulate filter checked Injector tubes should also be checked for leaks

Also keep an eye on the oil filter hoses as there can be a failure there and leaks with this code on

I am still having problems with my Auris. Noticed there is now a fuel filter warning light showing on the dash. Any ideas what triggers this light to come on?

Put some better diesel in it.

I don't have much experience with diesels, but if you take the filter to clean it, and get the water out, you will need to purge the air out of the system, otherwise the car wont start.

I don't think the problem is water in the filter, changed the filter a few days ago and primed the pump.

That light is the warning for water in the fuel filter. Maybe the level sensor switch didn't go back together quite right?

Plenty of possibles for P0093 and they are rarely an an actual fuel leak:

There are also known issues with bulletins from Toyota concerning these:

1. EG-0044T-0310 Being a faulty SCV which would seem pertinent since your issue started with the SCV are you sure it is the correct one? is it the modified Denso part ? was software updated along with modified valve?

2. EG-0068T-0514 concerning deformed injector nozzles which leak fuel causing P0093 image.thumb.png.dbe8e2290f6ab59a3701e5e0a5987885.png

3. EG-0078T-0710 crack inside high pressure pump, really rare!

Thanks for informative reply to my problem with the P0093 error.

I am sure (I maybe wrong) that the problem is SCV valve related, that's when all the problems started.

Unfortunately I replaced the SCV valve for the same kind (the short version) to save getting the car reprogrammed, which now seems a big mistake. The SCV valve I purchased is Part Number 294200-0360 with a cross reference to my pump 294000-0315, so I presume that this is the correct part? All dimensions seem identical.

Because I appear to be getting nowhere in resolving the problem I am considering if I should replace the SCV valve with the new longer modded valve and get the car reprogrammed.

Few questions:

Is it only Toyota that can carry out this software upgrade? What software version is the latest to match the new SCV valve?

Any idea if the car can be driven with the new SCV valve with the old software without going into limp mode and a P0093 error, so that I can take the car to a Toyota dealer for the software upgrade?

Now booked into Toyota for tomorrow. Just hope they don't presume it's an injector fault because of the P0093 code when it could be SCV related.

My Auris is at my local Auris garage. I spoke to the Toyota technician about the problem and that the problem started after the SCV valve replacement I also requested if the software could be updated which may help with SCV valve fuel pressure he said he would look into this. Still expecting a phone call to say that all of the injectors need replacing.

Looking back at a similar thread when the modded larger SCV valve is fitted and the minimum software for this is 302v0000. Does this version of software work with the original SCV valve (the short version)? or is there now another later software version for the Auris

Update from Toyota:

They are stating four new injectors and a genuine Toyota SCV is required, priced just below £2000!

Thinking of doing the job myself. Because the car is in Toyota can the 302v0000 software be installed even though the car is showing this P0093 error? Hope then to fit the modded SCV valve.

I have been it touch with PF Jones who are stating that the Denso SCV valve (part number 2942000300) is the incorrect part and should be PF Jones part number DCRS300830 https://www.pfjones.co.uk/denso-suction-control-valve-scv-dcrs300830.html

This part looks completely different much longer and there is an adapter plate etc. Any advice if this is the correct part? and would this valve require a Toyota software update?

You can just get a Toyota techstream cable online (eBay and so) for like 15-20 GBP,  it usually is shipped with a pirated tool of the Toyota diagnostic, but you can also get it from Toyota website and pay for hourly/daily rate iirc (the SW, not the cable). You just need a laptop to use it.

It's the same SW Toyota itself uses, so you can use it to program the SCV.

2942000300 (04226-0L030) crosses to Denso aftermarket - DCRS301370 (DCRS300830 is for the Rav4 and IS200)

SCV destructions

Another cause could be the fuel pressure sender and/or the bypass on the fuel rail, It looks like a complete assembly tho

Just been in touch with PF Jones again and it appears that they have made a mistake, the correct part number is PFJDCRS301370 https://www.pfjones.co.uk/denso-suction-control-valve-scv-dcrs301370.html

It looks similar to the one currently fitted (the one with the problems) Denso SCV 294200-0360.

Just hope this isn't the same as the PF Jones PFJDCRS301370?

Think i have figured this out,

Note the 4th digit

294200-0360 (DCRS300250) isn't even a Toyota part, It's for a Mitsubishi

294000-0360 is a Toyota diesel pump for the 2.5 and v6

correct part for your car is

294200-0300 (04226-0L030) crosses to Denso aftermarket - DCRS301370 (this kit has the updated SCV 294200-2610)

Thanks for the great detective work!

PF Jones are stating that PFJDCRS301370 is the same size as the original Toyota SCV (short version) not sure if it is the updated version that requires a vehicle software update?

https://www.denso-am.eu/catalog/part/DCRS301370

If you look at the old outdated TSB (EG-0132T-1110-EN) it lists the replacement kit as 04226-26020 that is now the same size as the original SCV (Denso aftermarket DCRS301370)

It seems the Long body with the spacer was a fix until Denso redesigned the part - what shouldn't need the software update

Interesting! What software is provided with these cables? Does it do the injector feedback values / compensation values readings?

It should be able to do everything Toyota dealer can do, because it's the same diagnostic tool.

There have been some really nice topics, by people knowing how to use it correctly, troubleshooting issues, with a lot of data.

They usually ship the cable with pirated version of Techstream (Techstream = Toyota diagnostic software).

You can even download this software from Toyota, for example https://www.toyota-tech.eu/DiagnosticTools/Software/GTS and pay for the license.

Either way, works the same, so up to you.

Plenty of videos online showing how it works.

Update:

I fitted the new  SCV yesterday and the car started first go with no P0093 error displaying. Took the car out for a short spin didn't want to go to far in case it started playing up again. The car was running perfect.

Went to start the car this morning and it was very difficult to start, when it did start it was blowing out lots of white smoke from the exhaust which lasted about 10 seconds. The smoke cleared and the car is running fine, again no errors. Took the car for a long spin about 15 miles and there were no problems.

Just worried why the car played up this morning when trying to start from cold? Parked up again overnight and I will see what happens tomorrow morning.

Unfortunately car is still playing up. Tried it again this morning and it's the same problem. The engine just turns over on starter motor, trying to fire and lots of white smoke from the exhaust. If I keep on it will eventually fire up, white smoke lasts for about 10 seconds and then it is right. When the engine is warm everything is fine.

Could it possibly be something to do with the glow plugs or the glow plug relay? or could the new SCV be faulty, will techstream pick up any SCV problems?

If there is an issue, Techstream should pick it up.

If you think it's glowplugs, try to warm them for 2 times before starting.

Bad cold starts are often related to SCV, atleast in the forum topics, maybe try the search option, to see if you can find anything in older topics.

Get the diagnostic first, then start troubleshooting it, without it, and not that much experience, it's equal as throwing a bag of chicken bones on the ground and looking for answers.

Three of the glow plugs are defective and are open circuit. Ordered a new set!
