Hi all,I want to buy a new Aygo X automatic, in UK. This morning I tested one unit with the Edge grade but the card didn't have paddle shift levers on steering wheel. Now at home, reviewing the specs of the car, I can see on internet pictures of the car with paddle shift levers on steering wheel. Do you know if this is something optional? I can't see anything in the brochure.

I'm also interested in the heated front seats, but it seems no available at any grade (pure, edge or exclusive).

Heated seat aka cold spec isn't available in the uk

you may be looking at pics of the mk2 aygo not the X, as the X has a CVT auto

Hi flash22,

You confirmed that heated seats are not available in UK, which doesn't make sense to have it as option in the south of Spain (40C degrees in August) and no optional in UK....

Regarding the paddles, I have looked pics of Aygo X, please see this link:

Heated seats and wheel are only on the limited edition

Its up to Toyota UK to decide what equipment / options they offer to customers here in the UK.

Its a much complained about annoyance but there is nothing we can do about it.

Heated seats would be easy enough to retrofit - there are a few decent kits on the market that an automotive interior trim specialist could easily retrofit to the vehicle.

You hit the nail of the head!! it's true the paddles are only now in the Exclusive, so I will go for an Aygo X Automatic Exclusive in Green.

I will check kits on the market regarding the heated front seats if needed.

As you were very helpful, can I ask one more question that seeing the docs you posted I have now... The Exclusive has Apple CarPlay wireless, can I use the iPhone wired to the system or only in wireless mode?

You can use either, be aware the wireless AC can drain the iPhones Battery, the USB only slow charges

Something i will say is get a decent cable that is durable, like an Anker cable

I've retrofitted a few heated seat kits over the years, easy enough if your skilled on the tools or find an automotive interior trim specialist.

The kits only require a permanent + supply, a switched + & the earth connection then fit the 2 x switches.

A couple of these many years ago:

Dometic MagicComfort MSH 60 - Insert seat heater, 4 elements

Plus one of these on my last vehicle:

Dometic MagicComfort MSH 300 - Carbon insert seat heater, 4 elements

many thanks for the links. I will save it for next winter, it seems that my new car will be at home as at end of May.

My Aygo X Exclusive automatic came with the paddle shift levers. I have never used them thought.

I have toyed with having heated seats fitted but undecided as the car seems to warm up quite quickly. Although I appreciate that warm glow on your bum can be comforting:

Thanks @Donrald for your message. May I ask the use you give to the car? city/town only or also A roads? I have some doubts about the driving of the car around M25 or A road.

Small engine with cvt transmission it’s definitely most suited for town and city use, A roads and Motorway if pushed will be drowning and not as pleasant as manual but if driven sensibly it will be ok. Just a personal experience with other small automatics.

Mainly local driving but I have been on a few long motorway journeys with it and find it absolutely fine, comfortable, quiet, smooth etc. you just have to think a little ahead on the motorway about overtaking as it does not have the same performance as a Ferrari!

Did find on two occasions the sat nav hung up after about 90 minutes. No idea why. The signal was fine. The iPhone maps using CarPlay was better.

A great car. Pleased I bought it.

Many thanks, @Donrald , for your words. In terms of maps, although I will have the Nav included at the Executive level, I will use the iPhone maps. I will probably wire the iPhone to the car. I think the maps will work smoother if I plus the iPhone rather than using it in wireless mode.

Have a look at the following topic:

Although it is the older model, we've used our 2016 Aygo (manual) for reasonably long journeys on the M1, M6, M40, etc as well as fast A roads and it has been fine if driven within its limits. Speeds up to 80+ or so on occasion, etc.

I honestly have no problems with doing motorway miles in my Aygo X.  I've been to Glasgow and back and all around the South Coast.  If you drive it within the legal speed limit....70mph, it's really fine.

I just CANNOT believe the amount of drivers that wizz past me doing 80+ ALL the time.  I swear unmarked police cars would take in 10s of thousands in fines for these Muppets.

They just think they own the road and have the right to drive at any speed they want !!!

I've had a fair few fast (ish) cars in my lifetime and just never had the need to do 80+ (at any age).  I will not deny, I've crept over the 70 mark, but that's only when I'm overtaking a truck etc and it warrants a wee blast of 73 or 75 to be able to nip out, overtake and nip back into the first lane, so I don't pi** all the speeders off.

That made me laugh  - I was going to say it always seems to be Aygos flying past me at 80mph when I'm on the motorway!

I will say, for a small car the Aygo is remarkably stable at high speeds compared to e.g. my old Mk1 diesel Yaris and Mk2 1.33, which both got alarmingly light and jittery if I was really hauling donkey in them!

Thankfully they fixed that in the Mk4 which seems planted as heck at any speed :naughty:  It's also nice to be able to e.g. drive up the M1 in strong crosswinds without feeling like you have to tack against the wind (The high-sided Yaris Mk1 and Mk2's were very very unpleasant to drive in high cross-winds!! )

I always associated paddle shift levers with the Audi marque.  Never used them much unless I was in the highlands of Scotland where the tight twisting down hill roads would catch out the Stronic box sometimes and put you into the wrong gear.  Apart from that, I cannot recall using the paddles for “normal” driving.

Never really seen the point of buying an automatic vehicle & then still changing " gears " with paddles.

Maybe on something exotic its nice to have the option to change gears with the paddle shift.

Agree with all the above, even our old Mk1 107 performs very well at legal motorway speeds and plenty in reserve for overtakes. As Bobby mentions not worth pushing 80+ anymore, especially as M4 near me is all smart motorway now so got more camera's than David Bailey! and as he mentions unmarked plod!

Only a few times have some strong cross winds messed with our 107 on the motorway, which I presume a heavier car would brushed off and and even stable being overtaken by juggernauts which happened a lot while said smart motorway was being built had 50mph limit few years ago, but they just set their limiter and plough on.

The good thing is our 107 is a fun drive at even lower speed limits given the right road and hopefully a few roundabouts something those big Rangies can only dream of!

Agreed - The problem with a powerful car is it doesn't feel fun plodding through town or slower roads, and often they doesn't really come alive until you're at more dangerous speeds, but when you have a small nippy agile car it's fun all the time!

Agreed as well!, my Mondeo V6 was terrible on the twisties and local roads, but was mega motorway car, worryingly so cos you could easy hit 80+ without noticing it was so smooth and quiet. I did improve the handling on local roads with lowering springs and strutbrace but that didn't alter the fact round town it was a big wallowy old hector, well compared to the 107!, and the fuel consumption was !!!!!

Hah, that is one of my reasons for sticking with smaller cars, as high speeds feel increasingly scary in a smaller car and it stops me getting too 'enthusiastic' for my own good   That said it's been an issue in the Mk4 as I sometimes find I'm suddenly hitting 80mph while overtaking and have to back off!  (It's mad how rapidly picks up speed when you ask it to... It doesn't like sustained acceleration but it'll deliver quick sudden bursts much faster than I'm used to after the Mk2, which needed a run-up for any overtaking manoeuvre! )

My colleague had a Passat and I swear you could be doing 120mph in that thing and not notice, it was so comfortable and disconnected from the road!
