Hi Guys

Today I paid a visit to my local Toyota dealer as they had an open day. After a long chat with a rep he/she asked the question " WHY DO YOU WANT OR NEED A HUD" . I am the customer and I want to acquire the latest Corrolla Hybrid 2L with the specification of my choice! My visit was a total waste of time as the dealer had nothing available because the models i am interested in wont be available late spring/early summer. In addition the rep stated that no new 2023 Toyotas have HUD fitted ???? I now know that is nonsense ! I guess i will be looking at a new dealership.

Drive safely guys.

Louie

As to be expected. If me I would not have bothered at all visiting any showroom currently. There are no good deals, there are no cars available, some specs might well be missing from the cars, and customer service is at its poorest levels ever., add the highest prices and here we have the great times to stick with what you have and if any extra cash available better to invest in anything but to buy a new car. 👍

Agreed, had the email, the posted flyer and the phone call. Nothing to see, only promises, didn’t go.

My answer was, if I didn't, I would probably be at Honda buying a Jazz

But you likely to get a “crazy” good price for your car second hand.  That’s what we did April 2022, sold the wife’s 60 plate Auris hybrid for £700 less than we paid in May 2017, and my 66 plate Prius Excel for £2500-£3000 more than I expected.  These were NOT trade in’s, the Auris sold via Motorway and the Prius to Better Car Buyer (or something like that).
I read yesterday used car sales have fallen due to shortage of availability. To me that reads the market may be good for selling.

It seems to me we are entering a new stage of car sales where the sales numbers on both new and used will begin to depend of customer demand which will drop significantly due to the economical and political situations.
In 12-24 months dealers will have a stock of new cars with not much customers. British pound has lost its value, average uk earner is poorer than before while car prices are highest ever. Good deals are off the table.
Car restrictions too, tax hikes, fuel prices, cc, ulez etc, parking too - have you noticed in the last few years everywhere are popping new signs for parking restrictions and camera’s operated car parks for residents use only? Obviously all and everything it’s against cars and it’s about time people to adjust accordingly and stop buying  like it’s end of the world. After the new train line HS2 is completed the things will get even uglier.
Owning and driving a car in western countries its becoming a luxury that less and less people can afford.
Please note, this is not a rant, not complaining but just personal thoughts on the matter.

Too many new cars being put on the road each year anyway, too easy to buy, people should be made keep a car for at least 5 years before being allowed to buy a brand new one 😃

Singapore must be the worst country in the world to own a car.  The restrictions and penalties aimed to fleece the driver/owners make London look like a safe haven for the motorist.

Indeed.
One of the the reasons to keep my current old car for as long as possible was to see and test how far can it survive.
We own the car since 2015 , bought just before became 5 years old at 42k miles. First 3 years of ownership was in little use as a second car, mostly short school runs. Then I took over in 2018 at 60k miles. I thought, if I keep driving it until reaches 10 years old and been trouble free will mean that if I buy a brand new one afterwards even with my daily crazy mileage it will be good for at least 10 years. Mission accomplished. The car has reached successfully the set target of 10 years of service pretty much trouble free even past this threshold and continue to serve me well to date. So far been the best car for me. The longest I owned, the highest miles on a single car, and last but not least the most reliable. Well done Toyota. Built in UK, tested around the world 🌎 🛣👌

Aye, for all the annoyances we have to deal with, we don't realize how easy we have it compared to some other countries. Even Germany and Japan are surprisingly restrictive, and you wouldn't think that given they're the homes of the biggest car manufacturers in the world!

Singapore is often called a fine city.  What that really means is they will fine you for the least little thing especially when it involves a motor car.  Still a fantastic place to visit though. However, chewing gum users would probably be better visiting Bangkok.

In many German cities they complain about the lack of space, but they do not tie down construction permits to how many parking places you're obliged to have on your property, and when they have a garage, they still park their vehicles on the street. Sometimes is just impossible to find a parking space on the streets and the only option is parking garages, which I always end up doing to avoid circling around a few blocks a hundred times...

In my case it worked out well. We both retired, covid knocked our mileage down and we reasoned in our mid 70’s it wasn’t going to pick up. So, we bought a couple of 7-8 year old cars with decent miles on (for their age) and we happy. Doing the change put some money back into our bank, I would rather have it there then in pieces of metal that rust.  Having said that, the Gen4 Prius was the best car I ever owned in the 58 years I been driving.

Older cars with not bad miles on them would work out not too bad at all so see what you mean 👍

Had a similar experience from my local dealer. Wanted to buy an excel with 15 inch wheels and spare. They insisted that an icon with 17 inch was “perfect for me” and they had one in the show room ready to go.
I walked and drove 50 miles to someone who actually listened to what i wanted.
