Marlinleg - a few things to think about:  Make sure the rear camera points out through an area swept by the wiper and try to avoid the heated screen wires.  (See pic.)  Also, on unlit streets any car headlights will overwhelm the sensor with the excessive contrast - and you won't be able to record the number plate.

I think the presence of a rear camera discourages 'tail-gaiters'.  Some idiots rush up behind me, tailgate me for a while but then suddenly drop back - and stay back.  I can only assume they see the camera and decide to drop back.  I'm pleased with it.

I've always used 128gb scandisk extreme cards in both my Nextbase camera's one being 2K for maybe last 6yrs and never had a problem with either camera.

You could try resetting the cam and see if helps but you will have to go back into settings and reset the setting to how it was.

Have this sticker stuck on the rear of the car as am fed up with bad London drivers, it helps a lot, they back off.

Stuck the rear cam to the roof of the boot door - metal part, so not on the heated lines.

Don,

My Rear Dealer fitted Dash Cam is mounted off-centre due to the rear brake light preventing neat installation.

Do you agree ?

I had my dealer move my Dashcam up high and nearside as originally, dead centre, was right in my eye.

It is not on the swept area but has the advantage of being under the overhang (Yaris Cross).

I think with the rear cam I am less concerned with reading a number plate than recording the car that simply drives in to the back of me.

I have to agree but the Tinted Glass hides the Cam on mine whereas on the Aygo X & F-Sport centre -line position it tended to deter tailgaters.

Yes, I have a similar notice stuck at the bottom of the rear window glass, on a part where there are no heating elements.

I think it did have an effect initially but nobody seems to be phased by it now and just tailgate anyway.

Hi Terry.  My rear cam is dead Centre and high up but within the wiper sweep.  You can see the centre heating element but not intrusive. Someone said dealers drop them to avoid brake light glare and you can see it but it doesn’t seem worse than dropping it.  The dealer fitted a rear cam in a CHR and it’s planted right in the middle - what a mess.  I’ll take some screenshots from the footage as soon as I get chance.

Some front and rear to show the effect of the rear screen heater line and the front to show the field of view.  I’ll get some dark ones after tomorrow night.

I guess my 3 Year Warranty Package would be questioned if I insisted they move my Cam.

The Bib Spoiler looks awesome .

I will post pictures when I remind myself how to erase the No. Plate.

Red is the best colour in my opinion but anchorwoman went into let’s have something different mode.

They plonked my cam right in my line of sight.  I used some masking tape to identify where it did not hit my vision and told them to move it, no problem.

I wish Ali Express did a rear view, LED ticker bar.

"You are too close"

"Smile you're on camera"

"Back off you sharp pointy thing"

"Rodney?"

The promised screenshots for A129 at night.  The files show suffix F&R which is useful.  There’s one rear and two from.  One front in town and the other on main beam.  One rear with the brake light on.  Not brilliant for reading number plates.

Here is a shot from my rear window.  The camera is in the unswept area.  This is a clip of a car overtaking.  It is only a portion of the image and I have partly obscured the licence plate but otherwise if was quite legible.

On this subject, do you know there's a 'National Dash Cam Safety Portal'?  Created by Nextbase, but you don't have to be a Nextbase customer to use it. If you record some dreadful driver behaviour you can upload the 'footage' once you've filled out a lengthy form. The number plate (of the bad driver's car) must be clearly visible. I've uploaded a few examples of reckless behaviour, all involving blatant running of a red traffic light. I read somewhere that 80% of the uploaded videos result in a driver being prosecuted. Only available in England and Wales.  The website is:  https://nextbase.co.uk/national-dash-cam-safety-portal/

Huh, it says "We’re sorry but our police portal is currently only available to users in the UK. Most police forces will still accept Dash Cam footage if you contact them directly" for me.

Clicking the map just took me to the actual police form for it, which I have found singularly unhelpful in the past.

From past experience, if you don't tick the box about being willing to go to court, then don't waste time filling in the very lengthy form as they'll just reject it, even if you have incontrovertible video footage.

I like the Viofos too - They have excellent resolution, esp. in the day time when it's bright!

Their only weakness is when it gets darker - Video footage is still very clear, but they don't pick up number plates very well, esp. where there is a significant speed difference, it gets very blurry.

I'm hoping the new cameras they're developing with the new STARVIS2 sensor chip will work better but that's a ways off yet!

I used to have the 380GW and Nextbase also recommended the 122 which they provided at a discount.  My dealer fitted it for about £70.  Worth doing as it fell off and they did a free refit.

With the new car, as they saw I had front and rear, they quoted for the 380GWX at just £280 fitted.  Bargain compared with the hassle of removing the 380GW/122 and tidying up and another £70+ to refit them.
