Vacuum valve

Just wondering if any of our members could identify this valve fitted to my 2008 Yaris diesel. It screws into to the inlet manifold, near to the throttle body, and is connected to the MAP sensor with a rubber pipe. I thought it might be some sort of a diaphragm, but you can blow through it both ways. It might be faulty, but I can't order a new one until I find out what it is.

Seem to be part number 90917-11037, Gas Filter. Don't know more. Maybe works with the fuel filter?
