Hi fellow toyota people! I need help.

I own a Toyota Avensis 2012 model. I want to uptade my firmware/display as it is getting really really slow. And the map is outdated as hell.

Now my local dealer wants 300EUR to fix it... 300! I have seen other toyota owners just download an uptade file and transfer it to a usb, and then it uptades itself!

The toyota website does not have the file for my Avensis 2012. So now i dont know what to do. I really really dont want to pay 300EUR to uptade it, when other people with a bit newer model can do it in 15minutes.

I was hoping maybe some kind souls out there could help me with this problems. Its been bugging me this whole week. I have gone on every website out there, and still cant seem to find any soulutions.

Please help.

Sincerely

Desperate Avensis driver.

If you've got the original Touch & Go unit (not the later Touch 2) Toyota stopped supplying online updates for these in about 2020. However I've previously bought one of these updates from eBay and it worked fine:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/394129652359?hash=item5bc3f53a87:g:M6MAAOSwIuhhCnMt&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAoKDOsJCaSuJsrteDxM%2Bm5SWXapyWIAvDmQ1fpbvAtn5YHnkjGWqwTlrgGBXt45EBl8x9qHy2pJ%2BLAmp14l4SKrMoz87qFgXpSId9KKjUC3UXH0nVI%2F6h8ihJASpZxkyke%2FIuSOqEvroOcuYAT8W5adjUfBz3i2vkpMdh%2B5YKUrgXGh2Kgo7yPZzh2P4pNI3Ywv2rCIqFTDXtD9Oo7qrBL5I%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR8SXy_3LYQ

The above will update the maps, and may possibly update the firmware at the same time, but it's unlikely to make it any quicker in my experience. It's just a bit of a slow unit, nothing that a firmware update will fix.

I have the normal Touch & Go yes.

Thank you! I think i will buy the one you linked. Do i do it in the same way? Just download the file on a usb and plug it in my car?

Kindest of regards!

Yes that's correct, a USB flashdrive. From memory when I updated mine I had to provide a code from my headunit to the eBay seller, he then generated a further code which he emailed back to me, together with a download link. I downloaded the update and extracted it onto the flashdrive, then plugged the flashdrive into the car USB socket, entered the update code provided by the eBay seller and the update process began. You do need to leave the car idling right through the update process which can take around an hour, so obviously you need to be able to park your car somewhere safe whilst you do that.

Hi

I purchased the update from the same eBay seller, and the update worked a treat.  Note you need an 8Gb or so USB flashdrive.
