What the heck is the difference between Excel, and GR + City pack?

Is it correct the GR has different suspension? I'm going to be test-driving a GR in a couple of weeks, but would like to try a "standard" Yaris to compare, but that's not going to be possible.

Both have 18" wheels, so in that regard they're the same.

I have found what I think is a pretty good deal in the current climate, and will very like place an order next week (I know test driving after the fact seems odd, but I already test drove an Excel spec last year, and apparently I can save even more as they're having a sales event).

The biggest thing is the interior trim. I sat in GR today and rather liked the full dark interior. I'm just unsure about the suspension, and how different it is.

It seems the only other differences are the in-built ionizer in the aircon, and the new center display unit (both Excel only). Just debating if they're worth the white interior.

Sorry I cannot help on this one I’ve never driven a GR.

I used to be indecisive too but now I’m not so sure.🤪

I couldn’t resist above 🤭

Tish reviewed a Yaris GR Sport the other week, she did mention the suspension was tweaked.

Excel, and GR + City pack

AFAIK, the non-city pack has Smart Connect.  The City Pack reverts to the earlier SatNav but adds dynamic parking guidance lines when reversing and 360 view for parking.

The coil springs and shock absorbers are definitely upgraded.

Wonder if the 1.5 hybrid power unit will get a 5th gen hybrid treatment in the future? 🤔

The Excel is 18" now??

I thought only the GR Sport had 18" rims, plus GR Sport badges and special GR seats were the main differentiators to the Excel, which had 17's and more useful tech instead.

Yaris. I just realized the confusion myself.

Part of my problem is I'd like the interior of the Design with Excel spec, but Excel only has white interior. I'm not in the cleanest of jobs!

GR has all-black interior which I quite like, and it can match 95% of the Excel spec, but has Touch 2 nav (no issue there in itself, but not latest) and different suspension. The video above was useful. Seems GR might actually ride better? With the discount I can get, GR is not off the table. Is the loss of the new nav/screen worth it? I don't use the car nav. It's down to interior and suspension/ride. I don't drive on the best roads, and my commute is going to be 80 miles of motorway daily (total).

My wife has the Cross, and it rides well. The Yaris did, too, from what I remember. I really need to drive GR and standard back-to-back.

EDIT: Reading the other thread on the new nav system makes it seeem it REQUIRES internet? That just leaves the entertainment side of the new system...

Yaris excel are on 17" wheels. Smart connect is sim card built in which is like a mobile signal, get free for 4 years I think. I prefer nav sat using satellite as that will always be ok. For various reasons, I decided to go for the design instead of the excel.

If you can get it cheaper than here then do let other know!

Are these on a PCP or straight purchase?

PCP, Toyota finance deposit allowance of 1750. Settle finance within 14 days of picking up car to take advantage of it.

How does this work?

Spec up the car you want and ordered it via the broker https://www.drivethedeal.com/

They then put u in touch with a Toyota dealer, just like what you intended in this post, but cheaper. The quote is with £1750 Toyota contribution on PCP. Then settle the finance, pay all of it within 14 days of receiving the car if you got the finance. I intend to pay a day after getting the car, so pay one day of interest. Otherwise 2 years PCP on the design which is £19k cost like £2600 in interest with a 4500 deposit.
